Could this one work as a girls name? I think it is quite beautiful and can think of nice nicknames.
I may save for a middle name if dh is not keen.

I know someone who has this as one of her middle names, but she was born on the Epiphany. I think it would be a bit daft to name your child that if she wasn't born on that day (is it the 6th Jan??) A bit like being called June when you born in October.

Eppy isn't a good nickname - it is slang for epileptic fit!! also reminds me of Epi-Pen

Having been to a religious school i also instantly think of the epiphany in the catholic sense - doesn't work as a name for me - sorry

I know an Epiphany with NN Pip. Sweet little girl and suits her name.

I rather like it, actually. But it probably would be 'Eppie' for short (like the girl in Silas Marner), which I've never liked much. In fact, it would be just like the bit in Silas Marner where he says he's calling his adopted daughter 'Hepzibah' after his sister and his neighbour pulls a cat's bum face and says 'I hope you called her something else for short'.

Well I can see what you mean as it is pretty sounding, and I like Pip etc.

The trouble is it has a very commonly used meaning, so rather than people seeing it as a name, as many of the trad names, and not knowing its meaning, people might associate it with the meaning.

ie realisation, dawning of knowledge etc...not a bad meaning as such but it's a bit like calling someone 'celebration' or 'happening' I suppose. Bit too literal.

That's one nickname I didn't mean. Stephanie could have the same problem, but doesn't seem to.

No i would not... Phany is not a nickname i think any child would be thankful for and one certainly to be thought of as a teen... Any other ideas??
