I know a number of Izaac’s as well as Isaacs. It’s not wrong or chavvy as some might be suggesting. One of my best friends who is highly educated and very middle class called her first born Izaac. It is purely a matter of choice and preference.
Use whichever one you prefer OP.

Ugh sorry

Edenember · 18/02/2021 12:06

Just use the normal spelling, you can still call him Zac. ‘Creative’ misspellings aren’t a good way to be different, if you want to be different choose a more unusual name. Zachary is lovely as well, if you prefer it I’d go for it.

EdgeOfACoin · 18/02/2021 11:55

Zombie thread!

Janewii · 18/02/2021 11:50

To be fair a lot of languages like arabic ect where the name is really origionally coming from (bible name ) they spell it with a z. As it will always be prounounced izak like that. Isaac they mispronounce it to ashaq

Janewii · 18/02/2021 11:42

I have an izaac and we like it that way so what? Silly is people who judge and think they know it all...

LittleSilver · 27/12/2009 22:27

Sorry, have to agree that "Izaac" just looks illiterate; that sounds really rude and I am sorry, but Isaac is such a lovely name; you can still call him Zac!

CommonNortherner · 23/12/2009 14:11

Sort of reminds me of that loo roll with the z

weeblewoman · 23/12/2009 12:42

ISAAC. Don't ruin a good name by misspelling it.

MadBadandCoveredinTinsel · 22/12/2009 21:37

I've never seen it spelt Izaac. It will just look daft and wrong.

notanumber · 22/12/2009 20:43

But shortenings aren't always totally logical, are they? Think of Abigail - Abbey, Isabella - Izzy etc.

I think it's unlikely anyone will sneer and tell you that by rights he should be "Sac", not "Zac" because that is how the full version is spelled.

Anyway, if you want the spelling Izaac simply because that makes calling him Zac more logical, then surely you need to follow your rule properly to the bitter end and call him "Zaac". Which is just plain daft.

Call him Isaac and Zac for short. They're both loely names and the shortening is very common and logical.

crazycat34 · 22/12/2009 10:44

FGS spell it properly!

SparkyToo · 20/12/2009 17:11

I too would stick with Isaac.

I have a name that I have to spell every time someone needs to write it down and it is a real pain!

norfolkBRONZEturkey · 20/12/2009 15:24

Isaac
but then I am biased (and always right

paisleyleaf · 20/12/2009 15:23

I've never seen it spelt with a 'z' before.
I'd think you don't know how to spell it.

dinoroar · 20/12/2009 15:20

You could just call him Zac.

Izaac does look silly because Isaac is far more widely used IMO.

nlo · 20/12/2009 15:18

I have an Isaac and we spell it Isaac! Although everyone else seems to think it is spelt Issac or Isacc or even Issaacc!

displayuntiltwelfthnight · 20/12/2009 14:44

definitely don't go for Izaac - reminds me of Izal loo paper that my Grandpa used to have!
Isaac lovely but any messing with the spelling and it just looks silly IMO

littleboyblue · 20/12/2009 14:42

Spell it Isaac and shorten to Zac, that's fine.

MillyMollyMoo · 20/12/2009 14:38

Ours will be Isaac if we have a boy this time but I'm thinking it'll be shortened to Ike, if at all.

Mama2b5 · 19/12/2009 23:31

Zac is vey over used because of "high school musical" Issac is lovely and i wouldnt spell it - Izaac, but its a choice that you will have to live with forever!

mumoftoomany · 08/12/2009 13:34

Isaac is lovely - I wouldn't shorten it at all!

Especially as there are so, so many little Zac/Zak/Zachs around!

kateyfer · 08/12/2009 13:14

if I saw Izaac I would think it was pronounced Izz-ack and not eye-sack (correct pronunciation) spell it Isaac and call him Zac.

love the name!

muminthemiddle · 04/12/2009 23:56

Why not go with Zachary if that is what you really like.
Round here Issac is pretty common.

jlo1234 · 03/12/2009 20:26

i havent diliberatly 'mis spelled' it as izaac i have seen it many times before i didnt just make it up
