I think I really love this name. Possibly with Buttercup as a middle name (altho that could be the pg hormones making me into a loon).

MN jury?

Betty is nice!

Buttercup is crazy. Although in a quite cool way.

TheBossofMe · 02/12/2009 15:40

Love the name, but can't help thinking of Frank Spencer though...

My Gran was christened Betty not Elizabeth. It's a great name and if I have a DD next time it'll be on my list. Cute but translates to adulthood well IMO.

Sorry, really don't like Buttercup though.

Bettymum · 02/12/2009 15:30

ROFL at Betty Buttercup, but could possibly become a lucrative CBBC character??

hohohojollster · 02/12/2009 15:26

I prefer Betsy too - or Bess.
Buttercup no sorry

bluebump · 02/12/2009 15:26

I like Betty, I prefer Betsy though. I don't like Betty Buttercup though i'm afraid.

controlfuckingfreaky · 02/12/2009 15:26

betty is lovely but do think about a "proper" name, nn betty..

bettina
elizabeth

Bubbaluv · 02/12/2009 15:23

Love Betty as a nn for Elizabeth. On it's own it's a bit cutsie pie for me - lacks gravitas if she wants to become a high court judge for e.g. But hey, cutsie is v popular at the moment so what would I know.
Buttercup makes me want to moo.

rubyslippers · 02/12/2009 15:13

no to Buttercup - definitely blame the hormones

Betty - hmmm i quite like it but then i prefer Betsy

SuperSoph73 · 02/12/2009 15:10

I'm sorry but it just reminds me of Frank Spencer

MaryMungo · 02/12/2009 15:10

Betty be beautiful. Buttercup be a bit bovine

Spidermama · 02/12/2009 15:06

Betty's nice but really it's short for Elizabeth and you can't change that.

Buttercup is ludicrous. Sorry. DD has just told me she used to use the name Buttercup in games and things when she was 6 or 7. She's mortified now.

Trezza · 02/12/2009 15:06

ahhh, i love it! but the flinstones spring to mind and just can't shake it...

tethersend · 02/12/2009 15:04

Betty is by far and away the best name I have heard in ages.

Definitely do it; she will be the only one in a class of Charlottes, Rubies and Chloes.

Buttercup will be cute when she is little, but perhaps not so great when she's 15...

Betty is great.

capstock · 02/12/2009 15:00

Betty Buttercup is a bit Powerpuff Girls (Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles)

Elizabeth Buttercup would be OK if you must (nn Betty anyway)
