Harvey or Hunter?

Our baby is due in 4 weeks time, if it's a girl she'll be Anna Noelle Reekie. Stuck between boys names, either Harvey James Reekie or Hunter James Reekie... thoughts please as Hunter is a "love it or hate it" name!

I love Hunter for a boy or a girl...go for what you like.

displayuntilbestbefore · 22/11/2009 23:42

at Heated Hunt-a-reekie
Good point

also think Harvey Reekie has too many eeee sounds.
Harold Reekie sounds distinguished

Heated · 22/11/2009 23:38

Although a naming traditionalist, I do like Hunter (much, much more than Harvey)... but Hunter Reekie sounds like Hunt-a-Reekie which ought to be a comical furry creature or possible a smell! Sorry!!

Anna is fab.

ja9 · 22/11/2009 23:28

i like both

(know a rl hunter who is fabulous which makes me love the name)

AuraofDora · 22/11/2009 23:26

hunter definately
hunter s thompson it is a real name
like holden too

saggyhairyarse · 22/11/2009 23:23

My first DS is (was) a Harvey so obviously I like it!

forehead · 22/11/2009 18:42

Dont like any of them tbh.

diddl · 22/11/2009 15:45

I like Harvey but also think that neither name go with surname.

I think a 1 or 3 syllable first name may be better.

Hunter or Harvey just sound too "rhyme-y" to me.

purepurple · 22/11/2009 15:15

I care for a Harvey and really don't like the name at all.
It reminds me of a furniture shop.

SixtyFootDoll · 22/11/2009 15:10

I have a Harvey
I love the name
Dont know any others and he is not a chav.

JANEITEisntErudite · 22/11/2009 15:01

Laurence James is gorgeous.

boodleboot · 22/11/2009 14:44

Hunter James is lovely

i really dislike Harvey

AitchTwoToTangOh · 21/11/2009 21:29

i do think james is the most heavenly name.
what about laurence, though. it's so elegant. laurence james reekie, v stylish.

LALA77 · 21/11/2009 21:26

Thanks folks, appreciate the feedback. I suppose when you see a baby that has been named you just accept that name and get used to it, but trying to pre-empt isn't so easy. To be honest I hope it's a girl then that makes life easy .

Away to read my baby names book again!

My son is called Harvey! Go with that!

AitchTwoToTangOh · 21/11/2009 21:14

harvey reekie just does not work, sorry. oddly, i am quite drawn to hunter but would be concerned about the nicknames.

MaggieBelle · 21/11/2009 21:11

Harvey.

Hunter is a bti agressive-sounding I thnk.

skidoodle · 21/11/2009 21:06

I love Hunter, not my usual style but think it sounds strong and is a real "boys" name, not keen on Harvey.

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/11/2009 20:55

Hunter is not a proper name.
Harvey is becoming more and more chav, but is the better of your two options.

feedthegoat · 21/11/2009 20:34

I know a little boy called Hunter. It is not a name I would ever choose myself but it is his name and it suits him.

I suppose my point is that whatever you choose will suit your baby once everyone has got used to it so choose the name you like! The Hunter I know is a lovely little boy too, if that helps!

malung · 21/11/2009 20:33

I really like Hunter too

dizzydixies · 21/11/2009 20:32

although in saying that there was a producer/director or something who was the very last name in the credits on one of DH's programmes (I can't remember which) called Hunter Covington which I thought was a brilliant name

MilkNoSugarPlease · 21/11/2009 20:31

Love it so much I had to say it twice

Hunter James is lovely
