Middle name to go with Giovanna?

HeadFairy · 12/11/2009 15:39

Not that we've settled on this as dd's name, but I really like it but I can't think of a middle name that'll go with it. I think it needs to be quite short, and I'd quite like something Italian/Spanish/French.

Any suggestions?

I want to name my future daughter giovanna. So I thought of giovanna Rose or Giovanna Seline. What do you think?

AKMD · 18/11/2009 23:16

Oops, mixed up my formatting there, sorry!

Also how, not hw...

AKMD · 18/11/2009 23:16

Babydancer It absolutely is! I think it's hilarious translated but I will get slapped down if I criticise names here

HeadFairy Hw about Giovanna Marissa?

HeadFairy · 18/11/2009 11:20

wasabipeanut · 17/11/2009 22:07

Actually I really like Mathilde too. Matilda is currently one of mine and DH's top choices for girls names.

AitchTwoToTangOh · 17/11/2009 21:48

no, i think it sounds lovely, jovan-na mateelde.

wasabipeanut · 17/11/2009 21:23

Yeah this one was pretty easy to find given your Italian connections!

Can I vote for Alessandra (bit of a mouthful but I still really like it) and Elena? I really like Rosa too.

Mind you I liked Eric yesterday (for my possible future DS obviously, not your future DD - that would be wierd) so not sure if my opinion counts at the mo!

bluesatinsash · 17/11/2009 19:20

Just catching up after v busy weekend...

Aitch, I really can't do anything that's too obviously family, my FIL is ridiculous and won't talk to us ever again (a bad thing?) if we choose a name that doesn't come from his family, but his family are a horrible bunch who've treated my dh terribly. My grandmother's name is Jacqueline which I really don't like. Her middle name is Mathilde which I quite like... my great grandmother was Julienne which is also pretty. I could try and sneak that in and just not tell the FIL

All my family will definitely pronounce Giovanna correctly because we're all either Italian or Argentine... it's everyone else I'd worry about

Dizzy - Camille is quite sweet, my mum keeps banging on about Camelia but I think that's just because she's an obssessive gardner

Make sure people know it's Joh-vanna and not Jee-o-varna!
dizzydixies I like Giovanna Camille too
AKMD is Mangifesta really a first name?

AitchTwoToTangOh · 14/11/2009 18:44

pleeeeeease choose a family name, honestly, my dd1 loves that she's called after my grandma.

dizzydixies · 14/11/2009 13:20

not that I'm a baby name obsessive or anything

dizzydixies · 14/11/2009 13:19

Giovanna Camille came to me in the middle of the night

dizzydixies · 13/11/2009 22:46

Giovanna Celeste
Giovanna Cecile
Giovanna Ismay
Giovanna Belle

AitchTwoToTangOh · 13/11/2009 21:19

yes, that's probably a good point, we followed dd2's name with a very british one, single syllable, quite plain. what are your family names? grandma?

dizzydixies · 13/11/2009 20:15

Giovanna Tess
Giovanna Cleo
Giovanna Sophie
Giovanna Lulu

sorry I can't think of anymore that have mediterrean influences(flu addled brain)

my fav Spanish names at the moment are Magdalena and Carmelita neither of which go well with Giovanna !!

HeadFairy · 13/11/2009 20:05

Perhaps that's why I've been a bit meh about all the names I can think of so far... Giovanna Carmen sounds really cool Dizzy.... nice one!

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 13/11/2009 19:41

is it just me that thinks it shouldn't be put with another 'a' sounding name?

Giovanna Marie
Giovanna Carmen
Giovanna Isabel
