muminthemiddle · 14/11/2009 22:43

Ciaran, but be prepared for lots of mis-spellings whichever way you choose.

dizzydixies · 14/11/2009 14:06

pavlov any news?!?!

birdofthenorth · 13/11/2009 08:47

Ciaran

dizzydixies · 12/11/2009 21:18

absolutely!!! you've no idea how I got to mine and I'm not going to embarass myself by telling you

have a few and see what the wee pudding looks like

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 19:22

Jude - bit girly, have a friend with a boy called this already, e often gets called Judey as a cute name, drives his mother mad!

Hector - DHs dad called their cat Hector the Arse Inspector because he used to sniff other cats backsides, or something like that so he said No cant use that one!

Gideon though, thats quite nice...

We are considering shortlisting, writing on scrap of paper, then once he is born chucking them up in the air and catching one, whatever it is, that's his name! Appropriate as a naming process Yes?

Rowan/Roan/Rohan - DH loves this name
Noah - love this name but alas it is awful with our surname!

I think dizzy we have had this conversation before and came to the conclusion we like the same names!

dizzydixies · 12/11/2009 19:13

oh and Hector - I heart Hector

dizzydixies · 12/11/2009 19:11

love Reuben but having had 3 pinks I haven't had a shot to use it

others on our lists were

Roan
Noah
Coran/Corin
Caleb
Rufus
Gabriel nn Gabe
Hugo

and am sure a few more that I can't think of now!!

of your names I love Gabriel and Reuben

what about
Gideon
Jonah
Jude
Callan

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 19:10

Actually, we had sort of considered Elliot. Just, well, i know i have not met him yet, but with him being inside me all this time, he does not feel like an Elliot.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 12/11/2009 19:03

Love Eli.

What about Elliot shortened to Eli?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 19:01

I have been scouring the nursery board for boys names, and there are no Reuben's there that I can see. Which is a Good Sign imo...

Dizzy, now, after changing my mind about Keiran/whatever the spelling...

Reuben
Gabriel
Alex
Eli
Malachi (sort of, if he is born tomorrow, likely

in that order

Throwing this into the mix..

My nephew (8) is Kieran Ruben.

elsiepiddock · 12/11/2009 17:27

Kieran.

It's very common though - DS1 has 3 Kierans in his class of 26 (and 1 Reuben!).

dizzydixies · 12/11/2009 17:21

Pav - whats on the list? can I help, you know I ADORE the whole baby naming (to the point of embarassing obsession )

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 16:16

motherof2boys I was being a little there regarding the spelling of Reuben. I think Rubin is possible scandinavian/german though? I would definitely spell it Reuben.

We have, on balance, after this thread decided we will not be naming our child Keiron/Keiran/Ciaran or any variations of. We would defintely be having to correct spelling or pronunciations all the time.

But...i do quite like the cornish verson...Kyran, pronounced Kirran, but no, we shall probably not go down that route.

Back to our list at this rate, he will just be called Porkpie/Baby boy/Brother

pixiestix · 12/11/2009 16:07

If you were going to spell Ciaran in Cornish it would be Kyran - but then it would be pronounced more like "Kirran". Just thought I would throw that in there!

AnnaSui · 12/11/2009 15:48

nmsaa = not my style at all. It's what polite Americans say instead of 'eurgh that's disgusting'. Means the same though.

AnnaSui · 12/11/2009 15:47

Kyran not Irish!! there's no k in Irish, there's no Y in Irish.

lol.

maybe it's WElsh though?

Ciaran is gaelic adn Kieran is the anglicisation of that.

motherof2boys · 12/11/2009 15:06

Reuben is how it is spelt in the Bible (Josep
h's eldest brother). I know a little Ruben but that seems spelt wrong to me!

I also know a Kiran as it works as an Indian/English name spelt that way.

I have to spell my married surname everytime and I hate doing that.

ScattyKatty · 12/11/2009 13:30

Keiron is pure chav!

Keiran is nice

Reggiee · 12/11/2009 13:28

Ds's middle name - Kieran

idobelieveinfairies · 12/11/2009 13:28

I have a Kyran....which i thought was the Irish way?? or was is gaelic??

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 12/11/2009 13:27

ok, i appear to have lost touch.

nmsaa = wtf? I have heard these/seen these several times over the last couple of days, but am clueless...enlighten please?
