Ok, so if you had to list one, what would you say your very favourite girl's name is?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Elizabeth

Not any of my dd's first names because dh wouldn't agree to it

FimboFortunaFeet · 09/11/2009 14:29

Rachel or Erin

One is my daugher's name and the other my niece's name.

Cortina · 09/11/2009 14:20

LEONORA. It just sounds so gorgeous when said out loud.
Has a beautiful melodic sound.

Easy to say and spell.

Is a very old European name.

Beethoven has a symphony to Leonora.

Travels well so recognizable all over the world.

There will not be another one in the whole school{smile]

Gorgeous in every way. IMVH humble O.

Just coming back to you....

I have to say I know of two in the same year!!!!!!

Agree with you, very much under used. People seem to go for X factor tastic 'Leona' etc instead.

Annabel - and yes it is dd1 name

crumblequeen · 09/11/2009 11:55

Catherine, still working on DH to allow it should we have a DD next!

posieparker · 09/11/2009 11:27

Mabel
Posy

TabithaTwitchet · 09/11/2009 11:26

Marianne and Madeleine

smother · 09/11/2009 11:21

looking through these responses, it seems that Anna is emerging as the hot favourite so far, not that I've counted....

it's also interesting how many people didn't use their all-time favourite for their own DD. That makes me feel better because I could not use mine as it didn't go with DP's surname.

Araminta, I wasn't allowed this either, but have always loved this name.

ihaveaheadache · 09/11/2009 10:43

Flora
Stella
Clementine
Ivy

MintyMoo · 09/11/2009 09:52

Evangeline/Aveline (can't decide between them)

Also love Emmeline, Eirlys and Eleri.

Hollyoaks · 09/11/2009 09:04

That should say 'as much as we love for a boy'

sunshinejanuary · 09/11/2009 09:02

I am florence but i had forgotten about Matilda being in the book too!

Hollyoaks · 09/11/2009 08:57

Isabella

Not biased in any way, its dd's name and struggling to find one just as beautiful if this next one is a girl and in fact one that we love as much for a girl.

Also love Gabriella and Annabelle but think it may be too much with an Isabella?

choosyfloosy · 09/11/2009 06:43

Gabriella.

I presented dh with a list of names when pregnant with this one cunningly placed. They were all at least 3 syllables... dh looked horrified as the only girl's name he liked was Rachel. We had a ds thank goodness (and actually I grew to like Rachel too).

EsmeWatson · 09/11/2009 03:40

Charlotte, Eliza & Harriet - my 3 DD's . I can't pick a favourite - love them all!!

florence2511 · 09/11/2009 01:00

Sunshine - Are you an Anne of Green Gables fan by any chance?

Matilda Blewitt and Marilla Cuthbert??

My DD is Matilda and is my all time favourite girls name. Other favourites include: Harriet, Persephone, Ophelia, Leonora and Penelope.

sunshinejanuary · 08/11/2009 22:32

Toss up between Matilda, Alanna and Marilla - 100% sure DH would never let me have any of these!

katnkittens · 08/11/2009 22:27

Anna, Marianne, Claudia

Xavielli · 08/11/2009 22:10

Evelyn or Madeleine

EmNotPGYet · 08/11/2009 21:10

Catriona. But DH hates it.

tulip27 · 08/11/2009 21:09

Eliza, Martha, Beatrice

MaggieMonday I had a Juliet moment just a few days ago - for exactly all the reasons you say - it suddenly came to me while I was walking the dog (no idea why...not pg or planning to be...) It's a fantastic name. I've no idea why it isn;t more popular. I also realised recently what a gorgeous name Anna is - so pretty, so simple, timeless.

Other big time long term favourties are Rose Elizabeth, Kate and Mary-Anne.
