Yes there's a nice derrivative but sadly DH think it sounds like trailer trash when placed after Mary!

Mary is my mum's name, I'm very keen on it for a DD's first name -but do you think I'd then offend my (lovely) mother in law if we don't honour her too? Love her, but don't love her name -at least not for the current generation!

are you me? All your names are my top choices (except Zoe) but I only get boys !!! and live in exile in the South so you are probably not me.

I think Anya is a lovely name. I have heard of Ananya more often, and that has always been one of my favourite names.

I raised Anya with a pal today and her immediate reaction was "as in Anya-ism?" ie aneurysm... I am gutted to say this kind of put me off!!

I agree with boodleboot about Magda, sounds like a Bond bad girl to me.

How about Mary Anya as a sort of double or hyphen then you can create a nn as time goes on?
