Kai has so many different meanings in different lanuages. I think its actually nice - I wouldn't use it myself, but its not an unpleasent name. But coupled with Wayne and Rooney? Oh dear...

kittywise · 03/11/2009 12:40

I have a Kai, but he's 10. What a shame it will now be associated with them

chattermouse · 03/11/2009 12:34

Chavtastic innit?!

overmydeadbody · 03/11/2009 12:29

Wayne is the worst part of the name. Of all the names out there I would rate it as the worst sounding name ever.

NewPenName · 03/11/2009 12:29

"Kai is a Dutch, Finnish, Frisian, German, Scandinavian, and Welsh name of Latin origin. Derived from the element 'gaudere' which means to rejoice" according to baby name site

overmydeadbody · 03/11/2009 12:28

Awful name but to be expected.

Good job the baby wasn't a girl as I had visions of the middle name being Waynetta!

SunChaser · 03/11/2009 11:55

As others have said, Kai is Maori for food - so any New Zealanders would chortle!

NormaSknockers · 03/11/2009 11:53

It's actually very refreshing to have a more "normal" down to Earth celeb baby name. I feared it would be something like Zoom Storybook Satchel Rooney!

NewPenName · 03/11/2009 11:51

kai's a nice and fairly standard issue German name, isn't it? Like it but Wayne - awful, awful.

I really can't stand Kai. Wayne isn't great either. Poor kid.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 03/11/2009 11:47

very working class name. As they are.

edam · 03/11/2009 11:42

according to the MN babyname finder Kai is likely to end up being a computer geek or working behind the counter in Costa coffee. Which would be quite interesting for the Rooney family, I'm sure...

curiositykilledscarybin · 03/11/2009 11:38

I don't particularly like it but it's not my sprog so I don't have to. At least it's a modern contemporary type real name rather than a mad celebrity one like zowie, peaches, pixie, apple, sparrow... blah blah blah...

thell · 03/11/2009 11:32

Shiloh Pit does sound like rhyming slang doesn't it?
I'm off for a Shiloh....

Kai Wayne ....makes me think of R'Wayne from Peter Kay's Britain's Got Talent.

womblemonster · 03/11/2009 11:30

my toes have not uncurled yet

clam · 03/11/2009 11:28

Very fitting.

And Shiloh Pitt is going to present a challenge for anyonw with Spoonerism syndrome (if such a thing exists )

daisy5 · 03/11/2009 11:27

Kai means 'food' in Maori

loupiots · 03/11/2009 11:26

When I saw the name(s)- they did make me giggle. There's something so incongruous about Kai and Wayne together.

Personally, I dislike Kai. It wanders a bit close to 'Keanu' territory for me.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 03/11/2009 11:22

My sister's dog is called Kai. Apparently it means dog in cornish

arena · 03/11/2009 11:20

Well guy's i love the name KAI, as my little beautiful special needs boy is called kai. And he is the best looking kai i have ever seen.

honeybunmum · 03/11/2009 11:04

LouMacca- why would you think Coleen would go for something a bit more classy or traditional? Wouldn't she have to be blessed with those qualities first?
