Aaron - how would you pronounce it?

We've picked the name Aaron for our son, but since deciding on it have discovered that people are pronouncing the name in different ways. I wanted to do a quick poll and see how you think it should be said.

Know a Canadian with (B)aron pronunciation and an American with Erin pronunciation. Both spelt Aaron.
I like the former (with Aaron spelling); that would be my choice.

If you were searching for the usual pronunciation of Aaron as you described, there was no need to do anything but read this thread and whatever other hits you got after entering your search term. You would have got a general idea. There was certainly no need to add your opinion, seven years too late and therefore redundant.

Just to put you in the picture.....
I landed on this site by putting a request through Google as to the correct(if there is one) pronunciation of 'Aaron'. As I didn't automatically concur with some of the reasons previously registered, I passed a comment of my own with my personal view. Within moments, I received insulting retorts from someone who said the thread was pointless etc., and all I did from then on, was to defend my own stance.... not that I have to justify or explain my position to anyone; particularly anyone who decides to make uninformed judgements on what they believe was my reason for landing here in the first place.

My contribution was to add my opinion to the discussion.

The discussion ended over 5 years ago, apart from a handful of comments when the thread was previously resurrected in 2014.
You must have had to search this thread out to add a comment, others will see it in active conversations and click on it and will then waste time reading it without realising the child in question is now at school.

Your first input was: Quote: "Bloody hell, another zombie thread! walks off shaking head."
You would have done far better to work on the premise of: "If it's not helpful; don't say it." And... "If it's pointless, don't make a point of joining it just to hurl an insult and leave."
And please.. don't accuse me of drawing you in... that was your choice, and you made it your business and hence your problem; so deal with it, rather than coming in here, just to be rude and blame someone else because you couldn't come in, cast aspersions, and then just walk away without someone defending their stance... all because someone is discussing something that you see as pointless. If you see it as pointless, why join the discussion in the first place?!

I know 2 Aaron's. One is air-ron and the other is Ar-ron. Personally I would spell it Arran to avoid confusion and because I think it looks nicer.

I know what you mean about American accents though, they cannot hear the difference between Marianne and Mary Anne, and say them both the same.

WhatamIdoinghere sorry, but you're wrong about that. You're probably younger so you don't know, but It's more like Air-on is the original British pronunciation, and Arron (rhymes with Baron) has only appeared over the last 25 years.

I am 50 and was at school (in England) with an Aaron pronounced 'Air-on', we had bible readings in church about Moses and 'Air-on' and as far as we knew at the time, there was no other way to say it. DD (22) however, was at school with a couple of 'Arrons' (spelled Aaron).
