DH is a fan, I'm not sure.

What's your opinion?

PS Clara is my current fave although I'm sure baby is a boy anyway.

Love both names. However I've always pronounced Clara as Cl-air-a and dont like it pronounced Cl-ar-a!

Magaly · 04/04/2010 16:38

love it!

dizzydixies · 04/04/2010 16:13

true but it confuses me when I notice I've already posted and don't remember doing it !!

CurlyCasper · 04/04/2010 16:11

Other people might be looking around for inspiration though! It's what brings me to these threads There's no point starting a new post about a name if one exists and shows up under the Baby Name Topic.

dizzydixies · 04/04/2010 16:04

this is an Oct thread girls so doubt very much if the OP is still looking for opinions!!

CurlyCasper · 04/04/2010 15:18

I think of Lois Lane and Long-distance Clara (Pigeon Street) but that's no reason against using them!

Lois is prettier though IMO. And the Lois Lane in the modern Superman interpretations is a great, fiesty character (unlike in the 80s films - will are hardly going to be reference points for your child and her class mates!)

BorisTheBold · 04/04/2010 15:03

I've got a Lois and get a lot of positive comments - although you should be prepared for people mispronouncing it as Louis, Lewis, Louise...

Lovethesea · 04/04/2010 14:25

No - maybe a marmite name? I dislike it. Sounds hard to me, and I hear a very strong US accent with it all the time which is fine if you are american?

queenofthehouse · 03/04/2010 22:54

I really like it

jojackson · 03/04/2010 21:50

my daughter is called lois faye and is 16mth old. its a beautiful name and sounds very classy!!!!!!

allipalli · 28/10/2009 00:19

For some reason even though it's quite rare, it sounds dull to me.

wrongun · 27/10/2009 23:28

Lois is plain. Clara is the 'Claire' of the noughties.

sargentpooper · 27/10/2009 23:19

Clara is a lot better.

Lois = Family Guy.

CinderellaRach · 27/10/2009 21:44

Lois was my favourite name for a long time but now prefer
Lola
Lila Grace
Leyla Rose
SO much prettier than plain Lois x

bamfusina · 27/10/2009 21:32

Like them both - Clarice just makes me think of Silence of the Lambs

Spicychicken · 27/10/2009 21:27

Lois is one of my favourites. I don't think any names escape assocation with someone famous so no reason not to use it IMO. Lois Lane is beautiful and refined anyway!

birdofthenorth · 27/10/2009 17:01

I LOVE Lois, to me it's pretty for a girl but could also be sassy and business like.

My husband hates it though I'm afraid, so that's a split vote for you!

I'm fairly ambivilent towards it but I know LOADS of them..!!

I know of at least 6 under the age of 5, so I suspect if you are trying to be a bit unusual then you might want to avoid.

meemarsgotabrandnewbump · 26/10/2009 17:54

I love it - it was on our girl list when DS2 was born.

Littlefish · 26/10/2009 17:52

I was at school with a Lois, but she prounounced it "Loys" (ie. to rhyme with Royce". I've never like it.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 26/10/2009 17:49

I like it. Was on my list

henryhuggins · 26/10/2009 17:33
