For me, its the radio 2 newsreader Fenella Fudge. I think it sounds like a Harry Potter name but it always makes me smile.

Kris Kristofferson

Charles Bukowski - a great author's name

ShowOfHands · 23/10/2009 18:47

Actually I do think mentioning the who's/whose thing is a good thing. Perhaps somebody will learn something. Every day's a school day. If you're not interested then disregard. The beauty of MN, all sorts of topics shooting off from the unremarkable.

ShowOfHands · 23/10/2009 18:44

Kiri Te Kanawa I like

And Kiki Dee.

ineedalifelaundry · 23/10/2009 18:41

Oh go and post in pedants corner. You may not mean it to dragon, but that kind of post really does come across as horribly superior and unpleasant. Especially when you have nothing to add to the actual topic under discussion.

I was at school with a Gerald Dean. He had a brother called Chris. Used to make me

branflake81 · 23/10/2009 18:08

it should be whose name. not who's.

2littlemonkeys · 23/10/2009 14:30

There was a little boy in my my daughters class and his name was Mitchell Marshall Gerrard!!! Always made me chuckle

Abubu · 23/10/2009 11:59

Another vote for Nina Nana.

It makes me think of that Whiggy song.

Ozziegirly · 23/10/2009 02:28

Sorry, Mahmoud, not Mahmood.

Ozziegirly · 23/10/2009 02:27

I like Ban-Ki Moon - it makes me think "We're off, to Ban-Ki Moon".

And Mahmood Ahmadinejad always makes me think Mahmood I'madinnerjacket.

LouMacca · 22/10/2009 22:32

The name Jose Mourinho always makes me smile (for obvious reasons)

hormonstersnomore · 22/10/2009 22:13

The tv presenter, Kylie Pentelow has a lovely name which always makes me smile & think of pantaloons.

TanyaBranning · 22/10/2009 21:58

Ditto Riz Lateef.

Shami Chakrabarti from Liberty - makes me a smile in a good way - I just like the sound of her name.

Also makes me smile that Stacey from EE is called Lacey in real life.

doubleexpresso · 22/10/2009 21:52

DS is hearing impaired. He told me there was a boy at school called Dude. Actually Jude, but I love Dude!

shockers · 22/10/2009 21:13

Ed Balls... childish I know

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 22/10/2009 21:00

"it would only be "whose name" if the sentence went .... "a person whose name makes you smile". But the current question "Who's name makes you smile?" is grammatically correct. Shuffle on."

No, "who's" is simply the contraction of who is. Whose: the one or ones belonging to what person or persons eg Whose painting won the third prize?

Oh, I wasn't pointing and laughing at all and neither was I trying to make myself look superior. It's pretty sad if you can't take it in the spirit in which it was written.

GoppingOtter · 22/10/2009 20:39

debi we know a Millie Fullalove - at school with DD

DebiTheScot · 22/10/2009 20:39

We are selling our house at the moment and dealing with someone whose/who's surname is Fullalove.
Makes the process slightly less stressful when I can't help smiling every time I get an email from her.

CheeeseOnToast · 22/10/2009 20:31

I also love Riz Lateef. I've always pictured her with rotten smokers' teeth (you know what i mean, teeth that look a bit brown or dirty and nicotine stained). By no way implying that those who smoke all have rancid teeth, thats just the association I make!!

But she has lovely, white teeth so somewhat disproves my silly theory

lilyjen · 22/10/2009 20:29

A weatherman called Ben bot

allaboutme · 22/10/2009 20:27

Love Tulip Mazunda on radio 1, also like Pixie McKenna the Dr on the TV

MrsVik · 22/10/2009 20:24

Edward Woodwood.

norbert dentrassangle! always makes me chuckle on motorway.

deleting · 22/10/2009 14:39

definately nina, also tanita tikaram (showing age) and jay vydelingum (classic fm newsreader).

chaosisawayoflife · 22/10/2009 14:29

Thank you so much Amarie, I've been sitting here stewing and huffing about having my grammatical errors pointed out for all to see. I think that posting on a thread just to point and laugh at someone's mistakes is a pretty sad way of making yourself feel superior and if I was right all along then I'm very happy!
