Come share the names you, for whatever reason, wouldn't ever use, but love with a passion

Here are mine

Girls
Harlot (I KNOW, I know)
Rain
Dream
Ever
London
Paris
Noelle

Boys
Canyon
Baylor (cat's name now )
Rohan
Corbin
Caspian
Noel

I'm sure I have more that I need to think of

Boy - Grover

Girl - Ariadne (Scottish surname, just wouldn't go)

Clarabumps · 17/02/2010 22:43

Girls
Araminta
Dolly
Lolita
Clover
Sadie
Ophelia...far too tragic!

Boys
Teddy
Theodore
Henry
Heathcliffe
Darcy(yes after Mr Darcy)
Felix

All of these seem a lot crazier when they#re said in a scottish west coast accent.

Alaro · 17/02/2010 22:35

Boys
Balthazar
Donovan
Teddy

Girls
Anais
Seraphina
Ines

GoddessInTheKitchen · 17/02/2010 22:13

Saladdays · 17/02/2010 20:24

(Thank you EverySingleStar for this thread as I've needed to confess my secret hippy name for years)

Saladdays · 17/02/2010 20:19

Pebble

buzybugs · 17/02/2010 20:05

Also almost got away with Tallesin which I liked for DD2 when PG and considering boys names. But now think would have made an excellent girls' name. Think I would fight for this for either boy or girl if I could persuade DH we should have a 4th......

buzybugs · 17/02/2010 19:46

Moseley for a boy and Araminta for a girl. Was told Moseley too right wing and DH not too keen on Minty as abbreviation for Araminta!

4sophia · 17/02/2010 19:34

Love Willow, Blossom and Tallulah. Wouldn't have the guts to use them though!

HarrietTheSpy · 17/02/2010 19:26

G
Persephone
Clementine (well, not really a guilty pleasure 'the name that got away' 'cause DH wouldn't have it for our last DD)
Zelma (ditto above - family name DH rejected)

B
Augustus
Fitzwilliam

thecloudhopper · 17/02/2010 18:19

I went to school ( in Wales) with 3 Angharad's and have akways liked the name.
Its a bugger to spell though.

MoChan · 17/02/2010 18:01

Just thought of another. I love Angharad but would feel like a non-Welsh fraud if I called a daughter that.

thecloudhopper · 17/02/2010 17:59

I love the name Osian ( proncounced Oshan) it is a Welsh name my partner thinks I am nuts.

I love the name Morgan too for a boy or girl.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 17/02/2010 17:02

Juanita

Gabriel

MudandRoses · 17/02/2010 16:59

Funnily enough, reading this thread, I just kept thinking - those aren't weird names, are they?? I think they're ok!

I wanted to name my son Fascinating, and shorten it Nate. We have a 2 syllable surname and I just loved the sound of "Fascinating --"

I didn't do it though.

Tummytuckrequired · 17/02/2010 16:45

I love:

Boy's
Atticus (loved the character in "To kill a Mockingbird")
ASA (know an ASA)
Inigo (know an Inigo)
Albert

Girl's
Anastasia (sounds very poncy)
Opheilia
Cordelia
Harper

saythatagain · 17/02/2010 16:39

Hesper Doon for the little girl will never have...swoon

toomuchcoffee · 17/02/2010 16:31

Nelly, not the Elephant
Hamish - but am not Scottish
Angus - see above
Jordan - sadly polluted by Ms Price
Oscar - DH said it sounds like a dog's name
Nina - DH did impression of ambulance siren

duchesse · 17/02/2010 16:15

Calypso. DH utterly vetoed it for DD3 (stick in the mud that he is).

Dizzymummy · 17/02/2010 16:14

Love Iolanthe for a girl and Iarla for a boy

TabithaTwitchet · 17/02/2010 16:09

Ooh, just thought of another:
