Come share the names you, for whatever reason, wouldn't ever use, but love with a passion

Here are mine

Girls
Harlot (I KNOW, I know)
Rain
Dream
Ever
London
Paris
Noelle

Boys
Canyon
Baylor (cat's name now )

I'm sure I have more that I need to think of

DH desperately wanted to call DS Peran but I vetoed it because I think it sounds like it's short for perrineum.

I like Ezra Heath but am working on DH as he's not sure...

PeppermintPatty79 · 20/02/2010 11:44

Zachary Linus, DH says no... I've used my favorite boys names on my DS, and have a feeling DC2 will be another boy..
If it is a girl she will be Lena Scarlett

BessieBoots · 20/02/2010 10:56

ninjachipmunk I campaigned tirelessly for Gwilym. And Gwyn. DH would not allow it. Bah!

anamaria22 · 20/02/2010 10:23

Most names on this thread are absolutely beautiful and original. Wouldn't life be more interesting (and people easier to identify/remember) if we all went ahead and used them?

NinjaChipmunk · 20/02/2010 10:15

i also like
gertie
rowan
pip
sorrel
iris
martha
nia
noelle

a lot of these i don't even think are wierd, i just don't think dp would agree to them!

jenny77 · 20/02/2010 09:23

Snorbs · 20/02/2010 00:05

Persephone - looks like I'm not alone in liking this

Dante - I have heard this name being used at a local playground

BicycleBelle · 19/02/2010 23:59

Whimsical - I have a DS called Cosmo also. Fantastic name, and it really suits him. Cool name for a cool kid.

Also absolutely totally out of the question for oh so obvious reasons, I have always thought Chlamydia would be quite a pretty girls name if it was not an STI. . Like wise Fellatio for a boy but also a no because - well....... !!!!!!!!

livefortoday · 19/02/2010 22:01

Boys:
Phoenix
Aslan
Sebastian

Girls:

Orla
Theadora

piximonkeyingaround · 19/02/2010 21:59

My name has popped up a few times but none of my dcs names. Dh and I were luckily in agreement with all our shortlisted names.

I think Cosmo is gorgeous, and also love Malachai, Corbin, and Atticus, all of which were on our lists at various points (3 boys).

For girls I love Lolita, Lillith, & Zarina and loads of goddess names.

Cats called Jacob, Samuel, Molly, Purdy & Lilly which I also love.

woahwoah · 19/02/2010 20:41

Iphegenia - this was my girl's fantasy name when I was (much) younger.
Caleb - loved this for a boy but wasn't brave enough to use it (this was 20 years ago and very unusual then - perhaps not so much now?)

eatsshootsleaves · 19/02/2010 20:32

Harlot? Really? I avoided Charlotte because of this! It's a good job that harlot is a fairly uncommon term these days that children do not know what it means!

Anyway, I've had a quick scan of the thread and do know a Fabio (Italian stud at uni), Xavier (non French relation his brother would have been called Inge if born a girl but he also has a French name), Gabriel, Ruben, Tyger so they are not as strange as some posters if it makes you feel better.

Some boys' names that were vetoed:
Jonah
Zechariah
Isaac

Yes, all biblical.

Female ones:
Lavender
Amethyst

Too new age.

calebsmum · 19/02/2010 19:33

boy:

Blue
Jasper
Sebastian

Girl:

Ophelia
Genevieve
Lorelei
Florence

LoveInAColdClimate · 19/02/2010 19:32

Nancy10 - all those names are lovely! And one of them is our prospective baby girl name

LoveInAColdClimate · 19/02/2010 19:30

"Herne", for a boy.

Nancy10 · 19/02/2010 18:39

The names I like for my fictional daughter are;
Clementine, Nancy, Violet and Felicity. My dh said a definate no to the first 3 but thought Felicity was ok. Luckily for him, we've had 3 ds. Although I was quite shocked when I told my mil my choices, because she liked them all especially Clementine. Oh and Fleur I like too!

BessieBoots · 19/02/2010 18:26

Girls-
Posy- oh God, that is so pretty...
Queenie
Sissy
Bertha
Ophelia
Enya (Iknow, I know...)

Boys-

Mesach
Burt
Clem
Cled.

Also, love the girls' name Buggy since I read it in a novel...
And considered calling DS2 Alban.

vics01 · 19/02/2010 18:16

OOo, also Scout for a girl and Rafferty for a boy...

vics01 · 19/02/2010 18:12

Pip, Minnie or Peppermint for a girl.
Archer for a boy. Maybe I'll be brave enough to use one of them next time....
