Here are mine

Girls

London
Paris
Noelle

Boys
Canyon
Baylor (cat's name now )
Rohan
Corbin
Caspian
Noel

I'm sure I have more that I need to think of

Skink - nothing at all - I love it. I am just a bit wary of names that could be deemed at all poncey as I was bullied at primary school. However, there are loads more unusual names around now than there were in teh seventies.

Is it really your mum's nn? How come?

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 15/10/2009 17:15

Atticus.

Millicent.
Heloise.

UnrequitedSkink · 15/10/2009 17:14

O, thought of another one - Angelina. I think it sounds sooo pretty but my family would kill themselves laughing.

UnrequitedSkink · 15/10/2009 17:04

Nathaniel, sorry.

UnrequitedSkink · 15/10/2009 17:04

What's wrong with Nataniel!! It's on my list!

BTW - TattyCoram is my mum's nickname

tattycoram · 15/10/2009 17:02

Wolfgang, Sebastian, Guy

Oh my gawd this is embarassing

Nathaniel

belgo · 15/10/2009 17:02

Ten10 - I love Archer for a boy!

UnrequitedSkink · 15/10/2009 17:01

I love love love Genevieve - not pronounced the English way - Jenna-veeve - but the French way - Jahn-vee-ev (with a very soft 'J'). But it's just far too poncy and no-one will pronounce it the way I want.

ten10 · 15/10/2009 16:42

My list
Jasper
Grey
Archer
Fisher
Giles

and DP's list is heavily influenced by professional golfers (this is where he gets all his naming inspiration)
Sergio
Angel
Seve
Soren
Henrik
Camilio

(can you tell that we are having real difficulty agreeing on a boys name)

TheDevilEatsBabies · 15/10/2009 16:27

i've been thinking a lot about this since i first saw the thread: gut instinct post...

I really, really love the name Charlotte (as in charlotte sometimes and Charlotte's web)
the big problem here is that my big sister is called Charlotte (and she's not as lovely as the name!) Now, don't get me wrong, I love my big sister, but she's really cocky and vain over some things and if I called my child Charlotte she would be convinced it's named after her (even though it's not, see above!) and would be really big-headed about it for ever. she'd ring up and say "ooh, how's my name-sake then?" or, "that's a brilliant name, it's just like mine!"
not in a neasty, bitchy way, but in a very "Charlotte" way.
it's not fair because i love it more every time i think about it!

doubleexpresso · 15/10/2009 10:29

Stirling
Sandford
Prentice - from the Crow Road
Ramsay
Munro (hills rather than Marilyn)

Our pets have weird names! Our children's names are 'normal' ish.

sugardumpling · 14/10/2009 16:06

at EverySingleStar those names are actually quite cool, loving Flash! If only I had the balls (or be cruel enough!)to name my child something like that.

EverySingleStar · 14/10/2009 15:54

Gawd, there was a family in a US magazine not long ago who had triplets called Wolf, Grey, and Blue. They had an older brother called ---- Flash.

TheDevilEatsBabies · 14/10/2009 15:49

i love Gabriel ; my friend has one of those.

i'm adding Cian to my list after another thread reminded me why i can never use it.

Chickenshavenolips · 14/10/2009 15:44

I dream of naming my fictional daughter Ophelia....

gingertoo · 14/10/2009 15:44

Gabriel here too - I really, really wanted DS3 to be called Gabriel - Dh hated it

LadyoftheBathtub · 14/10/2009 15:39

Oh I would love to use animal names like Wolf, Tiger and Bear but I know they would go down as just too poncy (especially because of blimming Bear Grylls, bah). I wish using animals as names was normal in the UK like it is in some places. If I was German I could use Wolf no problem...

CocoK · 14/10/2009 15:37

Assunta. Sadly we are not Mediterranean enough.

jasper · 14/10/2009 15:35

I like Violet and Gabriel too

sugardumpling · 14/10/2009 15:34

I love Gertie for a girl but DH wouldn't let me have it, he says she would get called dirty Gertie I still love it though.
Also love Violet but our surname starts with a D so thats a bit of a no no.
For a boy I love Caleb or Gabriel but DH hates them both
