Come share the names you, for whatever reason, wouldn't ever use, but love with a passion

Here are mine

Girls
Harlot (I KNOW, I know)
Rain
Dream
Ever
London
Paris
Noelle

Boys
Canyon
Baylor (cat's name now )
Rohan
Corbin
Caspian
Noel

I'm sure I have more that I need to think of

OP posts:

edwardcullensotherwoman · 16/02/2010 12:09

I love Allegra for a girl, but it juts wouldn't go with my, dp and ds's "normal" names! And Caseus (no idea where that even came from!) for a boy, but can't use it for the same reason. Maybe Icould rename ds.. lol.
I also like Bella, Alice and Edward, but I fear they might give away my Twilight obsession

dawntigga · 16/02/2010 12:07

ElephantsAndMiasmas I have a cousin called Loveday.

MaidInExileTiggaxx

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/02/2010 12:06

Tristan and Loveday are Cornish names and very nice. Know some Lovedays and it draws comment (usually positive) but they get remembered. Tristan isn't wussy, it's a great name and a knight of the round table.

dawntigga · 16/02/2010 12:00

EverySingleStar Melanie Rawn fan by any chance?

Boys
Garion
Vigo
Bailey - now a middle name

Girls

OMG, these all just sound like names I thought were good 10 minutes ago. Although actually lots have already been discussed in the whimsicalname household and rejected. Husband keen on Fox, boys on Peregrine and Wolf. Orson, which is a preferred name, actually means little bear.

We rejected Milo and Lysander for number one, and Clovis for number two.

arsesandoldlace · 16/02/2010 11:50

Oh and also Beau for a boy, and Tristan - vetoed by DH as he thinks it sounds wussy. Which I suppose it does.

arsesandoldlace · 16/02/2010 11:47

Some of these names are gorgeous!

Girls:
Boudicca (Boo for short!)
Loveday
Netta

Boys:
Archer
Peregrine
Aloysius
Benedict

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/02/2010 11:39

Go for it howdidthis! Just not Clover Honey Clover Elizabeth is nice though.

Elizabeth is a great name though - what are you thinking of for short? [quietly noses forward "Bess" and "Eliza" for howdidthis's attention]

howdidthishappenthen · 16/02/2010 11:32

Oh no -these names are so fabulous. Now I feel like I'm really letting the side down by going for 'Elizabeth Honey' for our little girl coming on Thursday. I want a 'Clover'

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/02/2010 11:31

Is it because it begins with "gay"? Sounds stoopid I know but I seriously wonder. Maybe some men can only hear one syllable at a time?

CakeandRoses · 16/02/2010 11:30

But my real fantasy ones are:

Boys:
Fox
Marmaduke
Caspian (came v close to naming Ds1 this actually)

Girls:
Lulu
Tallulah
Angelica
Soshanna

Over Dh's dead body!

CakeandRoses · 16/02/2010 11:27

So funny how many of us love Gabriel and how few there actually are! Lots of DHs vetoing it, I reckon. We're expecting number 2 this year, i love Gabriel, DH won't even act like its a serious suggestion!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 15/02/2010 16:05

Think we should start a commune and raise children together, TiggyR! Great names all.

elliedodger · 15/02/2010 12:41

TiggyR · 15/02/2010 10:21

Romulus and Remus for twins you wouldn't be able to take your eye's off Romulus for a moment would you, poor child?

belindarose · 14/02/2010 20:19

Malachi and Stella. I LOVE the sound of Stella, but it's a definite no.

cityangel · 14/02/2010 20:05

Kyla because dh says its too much like Kylie

Angel because I like it but don't think it would be an easy name to live with

Otis because of the lift connection and would not go with out initials

Fleecy · 14/02/2010 18:20

Icarus or Atticus for a boy

Hero, Mirren or Aurora for a girl.

Both DC have quite normal names, or so I thought, but DS has been mentioned on here!

thislittlesisterlola · 14/02/2010 17:16

on the grounds dp wont let me so i they arent very out there names just names im not allowed. Bay. Rory. Henry- his idiot of a friend is one and it would never be lived down Hetty. Millie. Emilia. Anaya. Or Annie. The names we do agree i love so not too bad i guess.

Takver · 14/02/2010 14:53

Lots of Maria names, particularly Maria del Mar shortened to Mari - Mar & Maria del Cruz (Mari - Cruz)

Vetoed on the grounds that as we're neither Spanish nor Catholic they were rather inappropriate. But I still love them.

KERALA1 · 14/02/2010 14:41

I really like Augusta but think I am the only person in the world that does.

WorzselMummage · 14/02/2010 14:04

Cooper
Horatio
Geronimo

Iris
Violet
Greta

victoriascrumptious · 14/02/2010 13:45

Riven.

It's the name of a poster on here who was annoyed at me the other day. All I could think about was how lovely her nickname sounded when it was said out loud. I wrote it in my babynames book. DH says no on the basis that it's meaning isnt great sob.

I also like Shy which sounds nice when said out loud. Again-I dont like it's meaning and it has a chav flavour
