Would love to know whay "type" of names people give their dcs - i.e. if people stick to the same thrend or style of name for their DC so they flow well together or if it doesnt really make a difference at all.

I'm due number 2 in January and am almost decided on a name, but have found myself coming to decision by trying all names with dds. Just wondering what others do...

Would love to steal hear some...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
alwayslookingforanswers · 15/10/2009 17:57

thanks - all bona fide names as well I can assure you maybe not in a British baby book - but if you bought a Zimbabwean baby name book they'd be in there

BonsoirAnna · 15/10/2009 17:50

DSS1 = Alexandre
DSS2 = Guillaume

Not, obviously, chosen by me!

DD = Flora

stuffitllllama · 15/10/2009 17:48

its lovely writing them down! They are half Italian girls.

N1mumma · 15/10/2009 12:30

DD Lara Matilda
DS1 Finlay Edward
DS2 Isaac William

maniacbug · 15/10/2009 11:54

DS Marlon Arthur Richard (last one after my dad who died a few years ago - actually, mainly to please my mum)

DD Agatha Hope

Their first names don't 'go' together at all but didn't think that was important at the time, although our shortlists do generally tend to feature more old-fashioned names.

No. 3 due in a matter of weeks (although any time in the next few days would be fine!) will be either Iris Ophelia / Ursula Beatrix or Reginald (after both my grandads), middle name tbc.

scaryclaireyboo · 15/10/2009 10:47

1dilemma I don't understand your post at all

HarrogateMum · 15/10/2009 09:24

Finlay Thomas (DT1)

Alexander Linton (DT2)

Madeleine Laura (DD)

cheerfulvicky · 15/10/2009 09:09

Felix Leo

Kayzr · 15/10/2009 07:27

Freddie Dominic

Dylan George.

We are having a 3rd in a couple of years but have no idea what we will call him/her. I love ancient greek names. Penelope and Persephone are at the top of my list. I really love Athena but not sure if everyone will think we have named her after the shop.

No boys names planned at all.

PlumpkinScaryBaps · 15/10/2009 00:05

Oliver Ryan

Alexander Benedict

If ds2 had been a girl we were going to have

Sophie Charlotte.

But that name's up for grabs cos I'm never having another one!

Alishanty · 14/10/2009 23:49

Solomon and Esme

1dilemma · 14/10/2009 23:41

wow never realised so many people on here had large families!

my dcs names go together.

my SILs however are something else their daughters have 'modern' first names, (I would use another word but it's not kind so I wont!) then they have used in one case the whole name including surname of the other sister, the other has 2 girls and has given them both the first name of the other one, but their boys have old testament names (looks really weird together-and others have siad the same)

my other SIL just uses the names we have allready used for our dcs!!

so if SIL 1 is called Jane Smith (married Jones) and SIL 2 is called Mary Smith (married Walker)

their daughters are called

modern Mary Jones

new Mary Jones

the other SIL daughter is called

current Jane Smith Walker

then there is an Ezekial and Izac(!)

TheLadyEvenstar · 14/10/2009 23:08

VicarInaBooTu · 14/10/2009 22:56

i have convential (boring)!

daniel james caleb (1991)

and
molly elisabeth (1997)

they suit their names though! both good kids.

tHELLISH · 14/10/2009 22:41

Wow, what fantastic names!

I think Flora, Clementine & Violet Ophelia have to be my faves, but I'm generally impressed by how tasteful and slightly adventurous you guys are!

We have Sally Aniela
(pr: Ann-Yell-a)
Polish for Angel / Angela, and was my Great-grandmother's name.

She would probably have been Simon Albert if a boy.

I too am not sure what to do about future offspring (if we ever have any!) as DH is much more conservative in name choices than me.
Current favourites are Bridget (Bridie), Nancy and Benedict (Ned) but DH has naysayed them all

SpookyMadMummy · 14/10/2009 22:20

I will only mentioned my two birth children whom I named myself.

Nicolette Lee
Genevieve Raye

Both were named in the Jewish tradition of naming after a beloved family member who has died.
