We've tried to keep out of the top 20, but failed with another DC's name, here goes.

Clare or Clare
Eliose
Sadie
Talia

DH likes Sally too but it's the name of a bunny boiler ex of my brothers

Well DH has just said no to Clara so we're back to Sadie and Talia, which as we may be having twins there is every possibility I may get to use both

So glad we've got that sorted with just 36 weeks to go lol

Just love it when one of your DCs names gets utterly slated on MN

Talia is pronounced Tah-lee-ah is an old testament Hebrew name meaning Dew from Heaven, unless the Hebrews were chavs do not think it is chavvy

hester · 10/10/2009 21:18

I love Sadie and Talia - was tempted by Talia for dd, but having read some of the posts on this thread I'm a bit relieved I didn't go for it!

I think, but could be wrong, that Talia has Hebrew origins and is pronounced Ta-le-a, while Thalia has Greek origins and is pronounced Tar-le-a. I've never come across Tahlia.

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 10/10/2009 21:04

LOVE Clara, Clare is nice too
Sadie is gorgeous
Eloise is just another Ellie-name to me
Talia has been ruined a bit for me by someone IRL, so I'd say no to that

Clara or Sadie, say I.

It is the best name ever.

peacock19780 · 10/10/2009 20:51

Maisie, Daisy, Ruby, Rosie?

MillyMollyMoo · 10/10/2009 20:45

I love Darcy DH hates it

I would pronounce Tal - ee - a

FishInMyHair · 10/10/2009 20:39

Talia- does it rhyme with Maria, pronounced Tarlia or Ta (as in thankyou) lia.

I like Clare. It is lovely and classic and will be considered unusual amongst her peers for sure!

peacock19780 · 10/10/2009 20:36

Or Darcy?

PoppyIsApain · 10/10/2009 20:32

I like Clara and Sadie

peacock19780 · 10/10/2009 20:31

Funny how everyone has different take! I was sure Clair was the French version and the two Tahlias I know have 'h's ! All 4 of the names you've shortlisted are lovely.

MillyMollyMoo · 10/10/2009 20:21

We called the cat Sophie which I'm kicking myself about now lol And I was once sued by a Tess lol

Clara is lovely and much underused.....
Also like Sadie and Eloise (but agree Eloise is a bit little girly....)

Another suggestion along the Talia lines: Tassia or Tessa/Tess?

If you like the "ie" ending what about Melodie? Sophie? Amalie? Coralie?

MillyMollyMoo · 10/10/2009 20:19

Hmm Claire is French and we're not French either, every Talia I have seen has been without an H, I guess which ever suits is fine.

OP posts:
peacock19780 · 10/10/2009 20:16

Isn't Tahlia spelt with an 'h'?

Clara is lovely and also international so I'm told by my friend who wanted it to sound the same in all 4 languages she and hubbie speak.

Claire HAS to have an 'i' unless you are Irish!

Eloise is pretty but I like Eliana and Ella as the prettist of the El names.

MillyMollyMoo · 10/10/2009 20:14

Sadie is a form of Sarah, which I like but I fancy the Y/IE ending for a change and Talia would be nicknamed Tally too.

Sorry |TSC- usually manage to dodge a bullet with these threads but seem to have put my foot well and truly in it. If it's any consolation my RL name is utterly hideous and I wouldn't even call my granny it

zebramummy · 10/10/2009 19:59

like clara a lot , talia sounds a bit chav to me, is sadie not sarah???

JoeyBettany · 10/10/2009 19:59

I work with early years and know lots of Talias. I would say it's becom ing common.

TMM- Clara is a fabulous name, not that I might be biased at all

OP, Obviously Clara is my fav but Eloise is lovely too. I think Sadie is too 'old lady' and Talia will date iykwim?
