Christmas themed names for a girl

dd2 is due on Xmas day, and DH & I are thinking of using a Christmas themed name as a middle name, or first name if she is born on 24th, 25th or 26th December.

We so far are aware of Hollie, Mary and Star, and that's about it

What are your others? Or what kind of names, if you don't want to say.

Scorps · 09/10/2009 13:28

Seren wouldn't 'match' the other dc for a first name though . This baby is dd2 - dc4.

Seren sounds lovely btw.

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 09/10/2009 13:26

Seren is gorgeous.

pigsinmud · 09/10/2009 13:26

Natasha - Russian pet name for Natalie meaning Christ's birthday. I wouldn't hear that name and think of Christmas, but it is linked.

We called our dog Tasha as she was born at Christmas.

I know someone with the middle name Tinsel!

Gabriella?

I really like Seren and Eve so far. Hollie is nice for a first name for a 24, 25, 26 Dec baby? (I prefer ie, not y)

I really like the name Holly. You can use it all year round, as holly is evergreen. i have a holly plant in my garden, it has red berries at the moment.

Scorps · 09/10/2009 13:23

Why? Because i want to, because we want to. We are very excited about her, and we are enjoying exploring names.

Nothing wrong with Mary, Holly, Stella, Estelle, Noëlle, Carol, Robin. All perfectly nice names.

Not Star though.

viennesewhirl · 09/10/2009 13:22

Eve and Natalie are very pretty, and I don't think anyone would make an automatic Christmas association.

And what about Belle, Carol, Gloria...?! Actually, I love Belle, but Carol and Gloria are a bit of a challenge - probably turn out to be desperately cool in the so wrong it's right sense of the word.

Scorps · 09/10/2009 13:22

I'm sure DH would love Scrooge . I can imagine buying her a personalised National Trust mug inscribed Scrooge

I hear ya, LilRed

I'm with seeker on this - I just don't understand WHY you would want to do it.... Have a niece called Holly all because she was born in Dec...... I just don't get it....

belgo · 09/10/2009 13:21

Ebenezer

belgo · 09/10/2009 13:20

Scrooge

Tiny Tim???

LilRedWG · 09/10/2009 13:19

As a middle name it's fine, but not the first one pleeeaaaaaase. Sorry, am overly involved, will back away from the thread.......

Scorps · 09/10/2009 13:15

But surely, Hollie is not an abnormal name?? Agree Star is for a first but who really introduces themselves as XXXX [middle name]?

Seren, Angelica, Eve...

LilRedWG · 09/10/2009 13:13

Seren is beautiful!

LilRedWG · 09/10/2009 13:12

Ah, but Londonlottie - your name is not a Christmas one, I'm presuming.

Let me tell you a story:

Picture the seven or eight year old me sitting in the classroom having a lovely day but dreading storytime. Why? Because it is the last week of term before Christmas and our great teacher is reading us a certain Dickens novel. He has to start each storytime with, "Now, anyone who laughs or points at, or in other way teases LilRedWG will be going to stand outside the classroom and can explain to the Head why".

Scorps · 09/10/2009 13:11

Mum is welsh, as are pretty much all the rest of my family. I love Seren.

I'm not sure if you have any welsh connections but Seren is Welsh for star and quite popular in taffyland. Then of course there's stella etc.
