Is it weird to have 3 children with 'A' being the first initial?

Have 2 A names already, DD and DS.

The only boy name I like is another A name.

At what stage does it become odd?

Both my DS have the same first initial - my dad (who's a teacher) said we were mad and their post would get mixed up. Been ok so far though!

My 2 girl cousins have the same initial. My dp (who tbh I think should spend a little more time on geting things like this sorted) just doesn't know the difference even though we have seen them quite a lot lately (at least four times this year) because of the name thing.

I had neighbours who were called, Finlay, Fulton, Fraser and Fergus. My dad called them the F-ing McDonalds!

I also have a friend with 4 kids all beginning with K. I don't see it as being a problem if you like the names.

My brothers had the same initial as my mum and my sister as my dad and other than the post situation there was no problem.

When dd2 was born the lady beside me had just had her 5th baby. The first four had names beginning A..., B...., C... and D... Number five was Jack!

Just a thought - would the third DC feel left out, I wonder? DH, DS1, DD and I have the same middle initial, completely coincidently. Didn't notice until DS2 asked why his middle name didn't start with the same letter as the rest of us.

I don't see the problem, just minor post confusion when they're teenage but then you have the excuse to go through their post.

Do all the A names even begin with the same sound?

Saltire · 30/09/2009 20:46

DH has cousins called Virginia,Veronica and Valerie, all in the same household ( or at leasst they were before they all got married)

Luxmum · 30/09/2009 20:43

I personally dont like it, I have 2 sets of cousins named like this, both names starting with the same letter. This has resulted in utter confusion over who is who, so, despite the cousins now being 40, we still cant distinguish them. idiotic but true.

i don't necessarily think it's odd, but other people may think you've done it on purpose.
guess it depends if that bothers you or not

pointydoug · 30/09/2009 19:50

yes

differentID · 30/09/2009 19:46

you aren't planning on doing a Duggar are you?

FritesMenthe · 30/09/2009 19:46

I know a family where everyone's name begins with J and another where all 5 children have S names

Disenchanted3 · 30/09/2009 19:44

DH is an 'A' name, we have 2 children with 'A' names

Mine is a 'D' and our other child has a D name

its just coincidence - never had anyone notice!
