I want something traditional, possibly biblical.

Matthew is the only name striking me at the moment. DS2 is due in 7 weeks.

My 21 yr old brother is a Matthew and is very well liked and handsome (biased maybe) and my 1 yr old nephew is matthew, also very well liked

Big matt is dark haired and sallow skinned, wee matt is pure blond and fair skinned but the name suits them both very well.

Good name!

My other brother is Michael (he who resembles god. My mum liked the biblical references to both, none of us girls had as much thought put into our names

PurlyQueen · 10/09/2009 01:02

My son's called Matthew. I picked the name because it's traditional but not too common.

Clary · 10/09/2009 00:36

good name tho v popular. If that bothers you.

3 in DS1's class (he's 10).

redfacedandrude · 09/09/2009 12:58

Also like Matthias.

Buda · 09/09/2009 12:21

I picked it for DS as it was the only name I could remember us agreeing on when I was PG. (We agreed on a name that I then went off but didn;t get a chance to tell DH but that was OK as I was convinced I was having a girl). So when DS popped out and doc asked what we would call him I said Matthew and DH gave me a "where the hell did that come from?" look.

I didn't actually know the meaning but it is very appropriate for a boy made in a test tube in a lab in Bangkok! He certainly is a gift from Heaven.

My best ex was a Matthew.

redfacedandrude · 09/09/2009 11:02

Love it. Good strong biblical name, due a comeback.

jellybeans · 09/09/2009 11:01

I like it, nearly chose it for DS but decided against it (preferred something else but still like Matthew) not sure about nn Matt but like Matty.

Ondine · 09/09/2009 11:01

Its complete ordinariness means it's inoffensive but I've always thought it's a very insipid name.

Boring, uninspiring, but nothing wrong with it.

Don't like Matt as nn.

KnickersandVests · 09/09/2009 10:33

It is, as you say, very trad. Nice too but not hugely inspiring.

Buda · 09/09/2009 10:30

Pyrocanthus · 09/09/2009 10:28

I love it.
I have one who is named after my brother so doubly special for me

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 09/09/2009 09:50

It's my bro's name. I love it. He is Matt for short. He's very popular and handsome I love traditional names like that, my bro's are Matthew, William and Joseph.
