Elizabeth seems obvious.. I had two friends called Ellie at school, both Elizabeths.

Elizabeth lends itself to several nicknames I suppose, Ellie, Lizzie. El, Beth..

rachelgrace · 08/09/2019 09:40

I know someone called Eleisha whose nickname is Ellie

My daughter's name is Elijah Marie. Ellie for short. Not traditional, I will say but so many people tell me they absolutely love it

marenmj · 09/09/2009 12:01

My daughter is Aella - shortened to Ellie sometimes by DH and at nursery.

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/09/2009 22:56

ElizabethG - haven't you heard of Prunella Scales?
Elodie is a lovely name, very classy (well the one I know is, anyway)

bellissima · 06/09/2009 15:36

Fenella is a name, but I would have thought Fenny or Nelly more likely nn. Elodie to me sounds like a Barbie story name. Just trying too hard to be prissy-pretty. I know a wonderful Elena (half-Spanish).

gladders · 06/09/2009 12:02

i know a meriel who gets called ellie...

lowrib · 06/09/2009 11:37

Another vote for Elodie

NotQuiteCockney · 06/09/2009 11:36

mellifluouscauliflower · 06/09/2009 11:35

I have a cousin whose name is Elinoa (pronounced as it sounds EllieNoah). It's a Hebrew name.
