DD is Iona Jane and now looking for girl/boy names - liked Iona as I was one of 6 with my name in my class at school and DH one of 4!

Sort of like the following but none quite right yet

Erin
Beth(any)
matilda
Evie (love it but DH thinks too popular

Isaac
Eli (love this I think!)
Miles
Noah

any thoughts ideas greatly appreciated! We like unsual but not 'too different' if that makes sense

ok.... so it is ing to be a baby boy....

still like Isaac and Tobais (Toby) - although my mum thinks a T name is 'naff' with our T surname.... I like Oscar (but can't use it)
any other thoughts??? really need some inspiration!!

Arden or Freya for a girl

Isaac or Seth for a boy.

? ? ?

cityangel · 25/09/2009 22:59

I love Orla

There will always be mixed opinion on any name. Just pick and tell noone then so long as it isn't very sounding people will be

Looking forward to March!

fairimum · 25/09/2009 20:40

LOL will be waiting a while as not due til March!! Will find out sex I expect - only as need very close monitoring so will have lots of scans and have NO willpower! Previously once know the sex finding the right name is MUCH easier... fingers crossed!!

Keep the ideas coming though as they are great!!

still loving Orla but best friend today has said is awful! and apparently Toby is too 'normal' to go with Iona - not that her choice in the end obviousoly!

cityangel · 23/09/2009 09:27

what about

Girls Oonagh Pia Kirstin Evelyn Boys
Hugo
Ellis

fairimum · 23/09/2009 07:42

I like Hamish - but DH says no! Think we have decided against another island... Finlay was on the list to start with, but DH not too keen...

OP posts:
twirlymum · 22/09/2009 23:26

Lewis, Arran or Skye (dd's name)

AngryFromManchester · 22/09/2009 23:10

hamish is a fab name

AngryFromManchester · 22/09/2009 23:09

another scottish island?

are you scottish? your dd has almost the same name as me, apart from one letter! but the same middle name too. I called one of my ds's a scottish name (FInlay) but it is the male version of my name

FimboFortuna · 22/09/2009 23:08

Elena

Struan

FimboFortuna · 22/09/2009 23:08

Ailsa (one of our consideration if ds had been a girl)

Blair

stressedHEmum · 22/09/2009 23:06

Scottish/Irish thing isn't really important if your not Sottish or Irish, it's just that Iona is such a Scottish name. I am both, so was commenting from that perspective.

JeMenFous · 22/09/2009 20:54

What about the name Hamish? It is a gorgeous name and seems to go really well with Iona

fairimum · 22/09/2009 20:50

We both LOVE Isla... sadly doesn't go with Tyler (our surname!)

Not worried about one being scottish one Irish - is this really a big deal? we don't have any connections to either!

Euan is nice... just not right!

OP posts:
stressedHEmum · 22/09/2009 20:31

Isla
Mhairi
Eilidh
Ailsa

Aonghas
Finn
Oisinn
Innes
Euan
Ruairidh

orla is an Irish name (DDs first name)as opposed to a Scottish one.

fairimum · 22/09/2009 19:41

Really liking Orla (nn Orly) for a girl.... Like Isaac, Noah and Tobais, but none are the one I don't think...

OP posts:
Pingpong · 20/09/2009 14:12

Please don't have Iona and Skye sounds way too twee as they are both islands. I know a Lewis and Harris
I prefer Miles to the biblical names on your first list.
From your extended list I like Elizabeth, Elsa and Seren, Alexander and Logan.

bigstripeytiger · 20/09/2009 13:33

A lot of your name choices are really popular names.

I would worry about calling a boy Eli, I think that people would continually misread the name and assume that it was a girl called Ellie.

fairimum · 20/09/2009 13:19

ok name lists getting longer....
Beth
Bethany
Brooke
Dorothy
Elizabeth
Ellie
Erin
Evie
Matilda
Skye
Elsa
Seren
But none of these are 'right'

Alexander
Devon
Eli
Isaac
Logan
Noah
Tobais (Toby) - like this
Zachary

thoughts?

choosyfloosy · 22/08/2009 21:44

Like your boys' names but i would avoid isaac and perhaps noah as they are very common round here just now. Eli is quite cool but I really like Miles.

Bethany is great.

I'm not blown away by your other girls' names and it doesn't sound like you are - evie and all versions of it are mindblowingly popular just now(though in reality that still probably translates to perhaps 1 other in her class, so it's not that bad)

Roisin
Rhiannon
Serena

mavornia · 22/08/2009 21:35

Iona Jane is lovely

Particulalrly like Evie and Noah from your list

Other ideas

Eden
Leah
Hope
Rosalie

Ethan
Lucas
Connor
Nathaniel
