It's for a boy. Pronounced Sea-Lay. Middle name Salvatore (Pronounced Salvatoray). Means Blessed Saviour.

so what was the meaning of Sealey?

Neel1411 · 12/08/2009 14:29

Yippeeeee!!! I got atleast one person out of 60 who said the name is good!!! Thanks itburnsitburns! (Like ur username LOL!)

And Mrswoolf, I really like the name (yes, I know I have a very weird taste!) and so does my family. Won't want to change it ... and surely enough will bring up my LO to love his name probably explain him out the meaning and why we decided to name him that.

erm

I actually think it's a very nice name - really sweet and different but not silly at all

AitchTwoOh · 12/08/2009 14:21

neel, you are utterly magnificent and game. i'm sure you and sealey will be a great pair, and his name will suit him wonderfully.

Neel1411 · 12/08/2009 14:20

What's wrong in asking for an opinion?

New to this post - do you mean your son is 1 and you're asking everyone what they think of his name? In the name of the wee man, woman - why???

LOL! I think now I know all the mean ways in which my son might be called in his school and I can be better prepared to comfort him!!

DS is 1 now ... Not thinking of changing his name ... who knows Sealey may love his name for not being one of the hundreds of Toms, Dicks and Harrys LOL ... Atleast thats how I am consoling myself!

princessmel · 12/08/2009 13:59

How old is Sealey?

If he is still very new , it's not too late to change his name.

It sounds like you are saying 'sealions are like seals, they are seal-ey'

pointydog · 12/08/2009 13:57

ha har!

I would like to leave one day

GibbonInARibbon · 12/08/2009 13:56

Hello pointy how the devil are you?

I started lurking again recently and like any addiction, you think you can handle it...yet here I am posting away like a true MN fiend

Sidge · 12/08/2009 13:54

If you would like it to be pronounced Sea-lay then you should have spelled it Sealay not Sealey. Be prepared for everyone to mispronounce it if you are in the UK.

pointydog · 12/08/2009 13:52

gibbon! Did you blow in with colditz?

GibbonInARibbon · 12/08/2009 13:50

Salvatore much nicer imo

Can I just say though that I

sockmonkey · 12/08/2009 13:49

Makes me think of Bones too. The TV show. David Boreanaz is gorgeous. Mmmm.

Neel1411 · 12/08/2009 13:38

LOL .. hey I am open to criticism! Don't regret putting this message here at all ... Won't be changing my DS's name coz of this .. but nice to know what people think (bad or good!)

Never ask for opinions on your baby's name after you have named him.

overweightnoverdrawn · 12/08/2009 13:33

sounds like something you would buy at a DIY store .

Neel1411 · 12/08/2009 13:31

Bucket = Bouquet?? LOL! Atleast I am not the only one with a funny spelling and pronunciation!

OP posts:
Washersaurus · 12/08/2009 13:20

Prouncing Sealey as Sea lay reminds me a bit of Hyacinth Bucket (Bouquet)

AitchTwoOh · 12/08/2009 13:18

i love the meaning, it's fantastic. i love little spanish boys called xavier (saviour) and of course jesus. lolol. we're too buttoned-up in this country.

MrsBadger · 12/08/2009 13:17

don't think the meaning's too heavy at all

I mean, when you consider Lola (from Dolores) means 'misery', and Rachel means 'sheep' and Rebecca means 'a trap or snare' meanings are a bit of a red herring altogether
