I've given my Dh the following Shortlist

Bathsheba · 24/07/2009 14:59

He has said No to every single boy's name suggestion I have come up with.

I have sent him the shortlist. These are my favourites. He can ADD to the shortlist but the name must come from the shortlist.

The middle name is set in stone. Surname is similar to Matthews.

Any obvious front runners or awful things that I've missed..

Stephen Montgomerie
Luke Montgomerie
Christian Montgomerie
Ben Montgomerie
Charlie Montgomerie
Nathan Montgomerie

Can you not wait and see what he looks like?

FWIW I prefer Stephen and Luke.

Hulababy · 27/07/2009 19:48

Stephen Montgomerie - not keen on Stephen; it seems very strange for a baby, although as an adult seems ok.

Luke Montgomerie - ok, but not my choice personally

Christian Montgomerie - don't like, sorry

Ben Montgomerie - nice, popular though if it bothers you; personally would go for Benjamin on birth certificate

Charlie Montgomerie - like this a lot, although again very popular. Also again, would use Charles on birth certificate

Nathan Montgomerie - not my choice

notsoteenagemum · 27/07/2009 19:44

Stephen- I like it but I can't imagine calling a baby Stephen.
Luke - ok not my favourite
Christian- Don't like too religious and also know a terror Christian.
Ben- I like Ben
Charlie-I like this best but I agree with LaDiDaDi adout the ie sound so would go for Charles with Charlie as a nn
Nathan-This is one of my fave names as well.

rimmer08 · 27/07/2009 19:33

charlie is a lovely name

Bathsheba · 27/07/2009 08:00

Hi Everyone - thanks so much

It really does have to be Montgomerie as a middle name - it is the only thing we've agreed on and actually we've had it as a boy's middle name since I was pregnant with DD2...we would have it as a first name but it really doesn't go as a first name with our surname...

Not Charlie, I don't like the two "ie" sounds in a row.

Like Ben, Luke and Stephen.

Less keen on Christian and Nathan.

Bellsa · 26/07/2009 20:26

I like them all. Montgomerie is lovely-have you considered it as a first name, given that you appear to have agreed on that one?

audley · 26/07/2009 19:33

Christian sounds the best with Montgomerie IMO, and Stephen is fab

pointydog · 24/07/2009 20:28

I like Stephen and Luke.

Then I'd go with Steve or Stevie

TheChilliMooseSpeaksTheTruth · 24/07/2009 20:26

Stephen is a good name. I like it with the ph and not a v too.
Luke is a bit short to go with such a long middle name. (does it have to be that middle name?)
Christian is not a name that I am keen on.
Ben is too short. Benjamin?
Charlie isn't a real name. Charles/
Nathan sounds a bit modern to go with the middle name, but is a nice name.

yama · 24/07/2009 20:25

I like all but Christian.

Favourite is probably Ben.

monkeyfacegrace · 24/07/2009 20:22

Christian is revolting. I was married to one once.

janeite · 24/07/2009 20:20

I love Luke and Christian. I like Ben but better as Benjamin. I don't like Nathan or Charlie.

magbags · 24/07/2009 20:11

Christian is the nicest imo. Lovely in fact.

Stephen reminds me of a smelly boy at school so not keen on it for that reason. To me, it will always be a smelly boy's name.

MaybeAfterBreakfast · 24/07/2009 16:21

Christian

Don't like Luke or Charlie

Mumcentreplus · 24/07/2009 16:20

I agree Mamalaz...'like i want him to speak'

MamaLazarou · 24/07/2009 16:11

Christian Bale is very handsome, but his accent is just too silly these days.

jellybeans · 24/07/2009 16:02

Nathan or Luke.

mumof2222222222222222boys · 24/07/2009 15:58

I like all of them - except Luke.

Are you going to end up calling him Monty? I think it is very cute!

Mumcentreplus · 24/07/2009 15:41

I like Christian best too..although that may be slanted reasoning due to my semi-secret Christian Bale crush..

teddygirl23 · 24/07/2009 15:34

i like christian the best

Mumcentreplus · 24/07/2009 15:27

Yikes!..lol..

what about family names?...

mrsradders · 24/07/2009 15:27

i love montgomerie but my fav boys name is monty, i like christian and ben but really dislike stephen and charlie (sorry). xx

Hassled · 24/07/2009 15:25

Wait and see what the baby looks like. It helps to have some favourites, but you don't need to know in advance. DS3 was going to be James, but when he arrived he just didn't look like a James. See what feels right once he's arrived.

lal123 · 24/07/2009 15:25

what is it with men and boys names?? Thank God we're having a girl or we were going to end up having some BIG arguements!!!! "Darius, come in for your tea" - I think not!!
