Leonie?

elvislives · 26/07/2009 11:25

Doesn't end in y but Elena works in English and French (with the emphasis on the first syllable rather than el- ain - a)

pointydog · 26/07/2009 10:47

it just doesn't have a nice sound, sounds clumsy to me

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 24/07/2009 23:52

Why is it not nice? (Just curious - I plucked the name out of thin air).

pointydog · 24/07/2009 23:34

probably not since claudalie is not nice

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 24/07/2009 23:30

Has anyone said Claudalie?
I used to know a Ghislaine.

pointydog · 24/07/2009 23:20

isn't it magalie, not meggily? And probably old fasioned now

pointydog · 24/07/2009 23:19

Eloise is nice though

pointydog · 24/07/2009 23:19

is it some sort of joke with these three syllable names?

what's with the syllables

SloogBoog · 24/07/2009 23:07

My french friend called her daughter Elea (El-ay-a). Quite pretty I thought.

pranma · 19/07/2009 16:40

Marguerite
Eloise
Josephine
Valerie

Lulubee · 19/07/2009 12:37

Sandrine? Got a friend called that, except everyone nicknames her Sanj which sounds like 'monkey' in French.

silkcushion · 18/07/2009 19:37

Doesn't end in ie/y but what about Vivienne? (tis my name)

funtimewincies · 18/07/2009 19:36

..although it know it doesn't follow your ie/y rule.

funtimewincies · 18/07/2009 19:35

Juliette

hobbgoblin · 18/07/2009 19:03

Horton · 18/07/2009 18:59

olatt · 18/07/2009 18:06

As said on another thread, Magali(e) seemed to be the name of every girl, or at least every girl yelled at by parent, in the park/supermarket when I was a student in France in the early 90s. And, believe it or not, there are some names that don't sound 'pretty yet sophisticated' when screeched in a gutteral French accent (it's the g).

pureeandpearls · 17/07/2009 22:30

No, Orelie, though that is one spelling.

And I did go to school with a Merrily.

mrsruffallo · 17/07/2009 22:17

Fanjolie?

LynetteScavo · 17/07/2009 22:16

Chloe?

LynetteScavo · 17/07/2009 22:16

Felicity?

LynetteScavo · 17/07/2009 22:14

Aurelie, surely?
