Boy's name to go with Aidan...

Hi,

Found out today that DC2 is going to be a boy! We are really chuffed! DS1 is Aidan and we now need a boy's name to go with it. Surname ends with -lee sound and two syllabus so don't want any similar ending sound names. Also, his middle name will be two syllabus as well and a bit unusual as we are using something from my culture. And nothing too popular (though I can see Aidan is creeping up the popularity list ). I kinda think we ended up with the perfect name for DS1 so a bit short of ideas for DS2.

I really like Tristan but thinks Aidan and Tristan is a bit much. Like Owen as well but not 100% sold on it. Lucas I like but too popular now I think and DH not sold on that one... Yeeks! HELP! Thanks!

Owen comes back to your poets idea - you could therefore drop Wilfred into the mix - a good old English name. Time to go down the Oxford Dictionary of English Literature?

Argh argh argh. Thanks for all your suggestions. DH is saying no to Dashiell (which I am still so loving!) or Flynn/Finn so will have to convince him in the next 16 weeks or so!

He likes Elliot (which I don't mind, I kinda like the idea of naming DS2 after an English poet, any other suggestions?), kinda likes Ethan too. I think he mentioned a couple of others like Marcus (yeeks!), Sam, Morgan (what?), Kieran, Charlie and others that I didn't like enough to remember... LOL. This is going to be worse than naming DS1. I want to throw a strop and insists on naming DS2 Dashiell (DH says we are not French, uh, we are not Celtic/Irish either!).

Just asked DH about Dashiell (sp? I think Cate Blanchett named one of her sons Dashiell and spelt it like that?) and he made a face and then offered an alternate spelling Daschel? WTF? That looks like a dog breed!

DH hates Ronan Keating with a passion so I don't think Ronan is ever going to fly with him... Will have a think about the other suggestions... Lachlan sounds nice but to me (I used to live in the land of Oz) always sounds real Aussie!

I'm really liking Dashiell at the moment. Is that wrong? I really like 'Dash' for short! Maybe it's just the hormones speaking... Anything that can be shortened to Dash?

Still in my shortlist:

Tristan (I guess it's the 'an' end, but having an 'an' ending does sound good with our surname!)
Matthew (Always loved the name but just too commonly used)
Flynn
Finn
Jonas (I love this but I think it's Scandinavian? Knew a guy with that name and it was pronounced 'Yo-nas', not sure how people would pronounce it here!)

I think I am overthinking this but as Aidan means 'little fire', I was trying to find a 'water' name to compliment but nothing struck me. This boy is going to end up with no name! Thanks for all your suggestions!

It's not weird to just have Finn. That is an Irish name in its own right.

Aidan and Finn is pretty good actually.

Killian is nice too (I hate the spelling Cillian, it doesn't make sense to me.)

What about Declan? Lorcan (although you are getting a lot of AN endings, aren't you?)

I have an Aidan (well, Aiden) and Tristan was my top choice for our No 3, who turned out to be a girl.

Cillian is pretty, it means 'strife'... Oh dear, with a little fire already in my life, I don't think I need that!

Really love Finn but not sure if it's too weird to just have Finn?

Love Ethan too. Patrick is coming up lots - a strong name to me but someone in the family is called Patrick so not sure about using it. Niall is gorgeous but good friend's little boy is already called that. Brodie is nice too but sounds too similar to our surname.

Not keen on Sean, Dominic, Brendan or Liam. Cuthbert definitely too unusual. Funny how certain names are popping up over and over again. Thanks all.
