Hello, so I've still got a little way to go yet but I was convinced I was having a girl, but in my scan it was abundantly clear it would be a boy.

I do not have a clue what to call it, and would like opinions?

So far

James
Nicholas
Lucian/Lucien
Theodore
Joshua

er.. but I don't actually love any of them. DH says Nicholas sounds like 'knickerless'?!

His favourite is James but it reminds me of 'jamon' and although I like it, I don't love it.

Help!!!

dh: why on earth are you calling our child Laurie and not James?

me: I have a secret crush on hugh laurie...?

dh: NO!

looks spookily like my shortlist did.

Ultimately we were torn between James or Theodore, DH liked James better, Theo being too greek apparently.

Our James is commonly referred to as Jamie though.

Benedict=eggs

Edward= DH's DS from another relationship (ohsocomplicated!)

Laurie---- will it be too much like 'lorry' for other children?

It's growing on me....

slowreadingprogress to be honest although I like it written down, in practice I think it's weedy and irritating and if I have to have a DS I'd rather not have a severely annoying one.

Hmm....

I actually like Laurence I hadn't thought of that at all, kind of sensible but not overused or like calling him Jack...

And I like HUgh Laurie (don't ask) so I like the nn Laurie...

hmmmmmm... what would I do without you lot!!??

Blaine is a bit like David Blaine scary magic man-

I like a name to have a meaning though too, so Aidan is suprisingly liked, I have a feeling it will be a little fiery indeed!!

I like Elliot a lot- DH thinks it sounds like a girls name (he's talking rubbish, right?)

don't like lucian - find it a weedy and annoying name for some reason!!!

of your choices Theodore is lovely, Theo for short - and if you like that how about Leo? I also really like Laurence, Laurie for short - so nice, traditional but unusual now.

Edward?

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 26/06/2009 19:34

Elliot

Ellis

Aidan's Irish. I like that, and it means 'little fiery one'.

Ailin is Irish and means handsome.

Blaine is also irish.

Caio is Italian and beautiful.

thirtysomething good list- love sebastian and felix and david/alex/laurie et al, but DH will veto some as they are ex-boyfriends! whooops...

The deal with Lucien/Lucian- I like but is it too, er, camp and frilly? I don't like 'looshan' pronunciation but do like 'looseean' if that makes sense.
I don't want to spend every day cringing when somebody mispronounces it though!

OP posts:
sockmonster · 26/06/2009 19:28

OOh I like Luca but it was vetoed by DH

Thanks for suggestions- I honestly have no idea-

keep them coming please!!

If it helps I speak Spanish/Italian and am dark, DH is half Irish and thoroughly fair, DH likes boring names- sorry, I mean traditional, erm, I would like something sensible but not too common, I think.

AAhhh!

Did they tell you it was a boy? At DD's 20 week scan I so clearly saw a willy. Goodness knows what it was, she's clearly all girl!
