My DD, aged 6, is called Marbella. Do you think it's chav to name DC after places?

If not, what place names do you like as names for DC?

Well if it was a la Beckham my dd should be called Reykjavik!

Cheltenham and Gloucester are nice. A bit of a ring to it for twins?

Fox, there is a town called Charlotte somewhere in the US so you accidentally got a place name anyway (though in that case I think the place was named after the person name rather than the other way round)

Not sure whether they are chavvy or not, but we were caught in Hurricane Wilma in Mexico when I was 4 weeks pregnant with DD (don't get judgemental about long haul flying whilst pregnant, I didn't know I was at the time!) annnyyyyhow, we flew from an airport in Merida as emergency, and I always thought Merida would be a pretty name for DD. DH didn't so we called her Charlotte. My Dad wanted to call me India, but decided on Gemma instead (India is a little more exotic I think!). His choice of middle name was Maude, so his ideas aren't all fantastic! Luckily my Mum put her foot down! Apologies to any Maude's!

The House of Lords is full of people named after places

It all depends on the place. And I'm afraid Marbella - though it would make a pretty name if it had no pre-existing use - does set off the chavometer.

I can't think of any good names on my local map - many that would be real stinkers like Grimsargh

You get a few Scottish ones - Iona, Leith, Arran, Isla (although the island's Islay). Don't think Glasgow would work though...

EachPeachPearMum · 18/06/2009 22:41

As long as you spell them correctly- ie not Chynna.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/06/2009 22:40

Why would it be the c word?

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 18/06/2009 22:40

I think India's nice.
