I am a Sukie (mn) and I wouldn't use it - I have a fairly common fn and I hated my mn growing up, though my dad chose it and it makes more sense as an Indian name, so I like it now. I've only ever met one other Sukie and she was also indian and had the same surname weirdly...

RachieB · 03/06/2009 12:44

only like Lois

ponynuts · 03/06/2009 11:46

I always think of Suki as a dog's name. Don't know why.

bellissima · 01/06/2009 14:34

It's Dutch/Belgian - diminutive of Anna. Like Mieke (diminutive of Maria).

magbags · 01/06/2009 13:56

Wasn't Anouk the name of the little girl in Chocolat? I really like it. Iris was one of my shortlist this time round until we found out we are expecting a ds. Camille is lovely too.

Definetely not Suki imho, please no.

listenglisten · 01/06/2009 12:43

I like Iris or Camille

peppapig3 · 01/06/2009 12:41

Iris is gorgeous. Quite like Suki/ Sukey and Lois is okay.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 30/05/2009 20:13

I like Camille and Iris. I notice, though, that Anouk Aimee was born Francoise.

Suki, on the other hand, is suitable only for a kitten.

I love love love Anouk and Camille, Camille I think is my favourite of the 2.

I like the others too but these two just stood right out for me

freyaandfred · 30/05/2009 19:25

I am new here, but can I contribute? I think you don't really know until the baby's born. I was dead set on calling my baby Scarlett until she came out. Just go with your gut instinct.Suki is adorable though.

yama · 30/05/2009 19:19

I saw Camille on another thread and realised there and then that I liked it.

Like Lois but prefer Lucy.

Not keen on the others.

Is Anouk pronounced like Nanook (of the North)?

MaggieBee · 30/05/2009 19:07

Lois.

Very urban chic. The others are all a bit like a load of letters jumbled up.

boodleboot · 30/05/2009 18:57

what country does Anouk traditionally hail from?
Favoured grace is a really beautiful meaning.

CuppaTeaJanice · 30/05/2009 18:39

Lois was on our girls shortlist.

wolfear · 30/05/2009 18:37

Apparently Anouk means favoured grace. I think we could use Annie for NN.

I think it's going to be a case of deciding a name when we see this baby. May be a boy BTW...

Lois is my fave off your list.

boodleboot · 30/05/2009 17:03

Anouk is quite interesting....Annie for NN?

sockmonster · 30/05/2009 13:05

No to Iris/Anouk

Spidermama · 29/05/2009 22:57

Yes to Anouk and Camille.
The others are OK but those are great.

pointydog · 29/05/2009 22:56

will I say it again?

MrsHappy · 29/05/2009 22:56

No to Suki

Others are fine and I think Anouk is very cool.

pointydog · 29/05/2009 22:55

Anouk - no no
Suki - no no
Iris - harsh thud sound
Lois - ok
Camille - nice sound but much prefer as a french name

Only like Camille. Suki sounds like a pet's name, or one of those awful nicknames gels from boarding school give each other. Anouk sounds like an Eskimo name, Lois is too American and Iris is a bit too twee.
