Writer Hunter Davies - married to novelist Margaret Forster. It always struck me as an unusual name, but manly.

yellowflowers · 20/01/2012 23:18

Gladiator

SardineQueen · 20/01/2012 19:20

Gladiators.

It's bloody awful. And tacky.

LaFilleSurLePont · 20/01/2012 17:40

Zombie thread.

3boysgirlontheway · 20/01/2012 17:09

I like it, but as someone else said it needs the right surname, and perhaps even the right family iykwim?

rosebery · 20/01/2012 16:22

Hmm no. Makes me think of the gladiators tv programme. Wasn't hunter the one that dated ulrika johnsson?

TeWihara · 20/01/2012 16:09

I had a thread about this when PG with DS as DH was desperate to name him Hunter, general consensus was don't do it.

I really like the name but I wouldn't and didn't use it in England as hunting has such a poor reputation, I also think it would be pretty difficult name to live with if you were a skinny spotty geeky 13yo.

If I was back in NZ, Canada or anywhere else with a similar attitude to hunting I would use it no problems.

ChickensGoMeh · 20/01/2012 15:53

Imagine you call your DS Hunter. Now imagine he grows up to be 5' nothing tall and an IT consultant. It's a lot to live up to, right?

woolly76 · 20/01/2012 15:51

Sounds a bit silly and faddy

onthegophotobooth · 20/01/2012 15:46

I have just named my boy Hunter just because of the reason that he looks hunter.

Heated · 28/05/2009 21:07

It is very romance novel, where the men are rugged and laconic and have brothers called Tate and Ryder. One of those names I secretly like but would never use.

jkklpu · 28/05/2009 21:04

big game

janeite · 28/05/2009 21:03

I have seen (and liked) Paris, Texas.

Don't like Hunter at all though, sorry.
