Really like it but then I'm a fan of old fashioned names!

peppapig3 · 23/05/2009 20:03

peppapig3 · 23/05/2009 19:25

Romford is a bit Kaff and Kim (I think that's what you mean)!

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 23/05/2009 19:20

it's very Kath and Kim

MsMaggieBeauregarde · 23/05/2009 19:00

Hexagon House.

MsMaggieBeauregarde · 23/05/2009 19:00

Romy short for romford is nice

Romford though, you're 'avin' a laff. I used to work in Romford in issix, in a building refered to by my colleagues as 'exigin 'assssss.

peppapig3 · 23/05/2009 18:55

Thanks for the suggestion loveoneson but Romford is not really my taste- each to his own, I guess.

I knew an old lady (family friend) whose name was Adelaide. She hated it and was always known as Molly!

luvoneson · 23/05/2009 16:55

Have asked a few people this afternoon, all hate it. What about 'Romford'?

belgo · 23/05/2009 16:00

Adelaide is very pretty when pronouced with a french accent. It's a very old name. I wanted the germanic version Adelheide (Heidi for short) if ds had been a girl.

Adele is lovely as well.

Paolosgirl · 23/05/2009 15:46

Adele is a lovely alternative iykwim

MsMaggieBeauregarde · 23/05/2009 15:45

Yes, Adele is lovely.

peppapig3 · 23/05/2009 15:29

I think it is a bit poncey as I imagine it being used by v well to do Victorian ladies!! It's obviously a bit of a marmite name!

that is friend's btw.

MsMaggieBeauregarde · 23/05/2009 15:19

I went to school with one. Very unusual. I like it. Adel for short though, not Laide!!

MANATEEequineOHARA · 23/05/2009 15:19

Friends dd is called Adelaide and I think it is a lovely name. I also come accross it quite a lot at work (family history) it was quite popular in Victorian times, in families with nice names (not the boring Mary and William type families that send me to sleep!).

Cadelaide · 23/05/2009 15:18

I always imagined I might nn her "Lady".

Poncey or what?

TheFallenMadonna · 23/05/2009 15:18

I rather like it I think.

Makes me think of Adelaide Adams in Calamity Jane.

Cadelaide · 23/05/2009 15:17
