My dd is Aphra and friends call her Affie (we just call her Aph).

It's also a gallic name in its own right. In Scotland it's spelled Aoiffe but pronounced Effie.

My Granny was called Euphemia, her nn was Etta; I knew another Euphemia who was always called Fay. I don't like the name Euphemia myself particularly, whether said out loud or written down, but I love the nicknames!

Euphemia - I love it, it is on our list at the moment.
Also could be used for Ethel, which i have also been thinking about a lot lately and i am liking more and more.
