Zephaniah or Magnus - which do you prefer and why?

not sure if dc3 will be boy or girl but still undecided about boy names.
Think these two are my favourites but sure others will surface in the next 20 weeks!

dd is Phoenix and ds is Cassian, if that has any bearing.

Magnus will not be such a good name if he has weight problems in the future

wotulookinat · 15/05/2009 18:15

Yes, Janeite, you probably are.

janeite · 15/05/2009 16:42

Am I the only person who thinks Benjamin Zephania's poetry is rubbish then?

Vote for Magnus!

malenagrrl · 15/05/2009 16:06

Magnus is a great name!

WowOoo · 15/05/2009 13:59

Like both but much prefer Magnus. We know a lovely Magnus and he's a fab man, great character.

Quite like Ben Zeph and Zeph but just OK name.

BunnyLebowski · 15/05/2009 13:55

Don't like either but if had to choose it would be Zephaniah as Zeph would be a pretty cool nickname!

Magnus really doesn't fit with your other dc's imo whereas Zephaniah definitely would.

wotulookinat · 15/05/2009 12:53

Zephaniah. Brilliant poet

changer22 · 15/05/2009 12:41

Magnus every time.

raindroprhyme · 14/05/2009 20:34

oops add a h!

raindroprhyme · 14/05/2009 20:34

Zephania

fits with your other DC's name imo

LetThemEatCake · 14/05/2009 18:35

oh God

dinkymum · 14/05/2009 13:33

Magnus because to m it seems a much stronger name and more versatile for the future person he may become Hth

bumpsoon · 14/05/2009 11:55

we had a black labrador called magnus so i will always associate it with wet noses and a background smell of fox poo

janeite · 13/05/2009 21:17

Magnus. I really don't like Zephania, probably because I don't like the poet at all. Zeph sounds quite cute though!

LetThemEatCake · 13/05/2009 21:14

I have to say that I am leaning towards Magnus this week. It sounds regal, which is one of the reasons I liked Cassian.

Had my 20w scan today and managed to NOT find out the sex. Just think!! all of this agonising could have been over...

I like Magnus because it's a good strong name. I know it's Scottish but there's an Irish version Manus which I also like.

Zephaniah sounds like one of that american woman's octuplets - sorry. Stephan would make a good brother name to a Magnus thoguh.

sockmonster · 11/05/2009 16:07

I don't like Magnus it sounds boring and scary and nerdy and dutch all at once. I prefer Zephaniah.. however it's pretty hard for a 4 year old to write daily, and it really reminds me of Stephanie or Stefania so it sounds quite girly. Zeph is cool though.

MrsMattie · 11/05/2009 10:46

I know a Zeph. He is a 6'4 Jamaican guy, though, not a dinky little blonde boy, so that's my association of the name

I don't like Magnus at all.

jellybeans · 11/05/2009 09:43

I don't think Zephaniah will be shortened to 'fanny', I know a Stefan and he isn't.

yogabird · 10/05/2009 21:47

magnus - shorter

pasturesnew · 10/05/2009 21:46

Magnus, as Zephaniah could be shortened to "fanny" in the playground

GrendelsMum · 10/05/2009 21:43

Zephaniah - makes me think of the poet, which is definitely a good thing. On the other hand, it does have an awful lot of syllables in if your surname is also long.

Magnus - makes me think of Orkney and St Magnus, which is also a very good thing.

Why not call him Magnus Zephaniah, or Zephaniah Magnus and he can pick whichever he prefers?

troutpout · 02/05/2009 19:18

Magnus

TheFallenMadonna · 02/05/2009 19:10

Magnus. What yama said.
