My DF wanted to call me Merlin if I was a boy and Gwenevere if I was a girl. My DM wanted Joseph for a boy and Abi-Jo for a girl. I ended up with Abi but secretly i'd have liked Gwenevere

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Shitemum · 25/04/2009 14:56

I was nearly Sylvia. Wouldn't have minded that but am happy with the (unusual but not made up)name they chose.

serenity · 25/04/2009 14:52

If I'd been a boy I'd have been Quentin...

mumwhereareyou · 25/04/2009 14:50

My dad has just come back from the states in the 60's and told mum he had the perfect name
Randy, apparently they had massive rows and i ended up being called Sarah.

I dread to think of the teasing i would have got as a teenager with that name.

VoodooTheUnlikely · 25/04/2009 14:46

Cherry.

In honour of the blossom on the trees when I was born. I thank the good lord that one didn't pan out.

MarthaFarquhar · 25/04/2009 14:44

I was nearly a Victoria, which I prefer to my own name.

ScorpiowithabigS · 25/04/2009 14:44

Sophie or Saffron.

Would have been Thomas if i was a boy.

dizzydixies · 25/04/2009 14:42

they knew I was going to be a girl, being adopted has that advantage but I was very nearly Melody - thank feck I ended up with one that makes me sounds more like one of the Walton family members

MrsGokWan · 25/04/2009 14:34

I should have been Aurora but my Dad couldn't spell it, still pee'd off about that.Still have a hankering to be called Rory for short

Geekylass · 25/04/2009 13:48

What's wrong with Kirsty??

lowrib · 25/04/2009 12:47

Zoe / Jessie / Thomas

LetThemEatCake · 23/04/2009 08:31

Justin if boy.

Xanthe was a contender, but they were put off by the fact that it means golden-haired or something - and being of Indian descent, the chances of that were slight.

I actually really like it as a name but do like the name I have too (means princess!! very fitting)

Servalan · 22/04/2009 23:40

My DF wanted to call me Bridget

Or Mitzi

My DM put her foot down

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/04/2009 23:06

Johanna...not bad...but Benedict if I had been a boy.

Baysmum · 22/04/2009 23:00

Jasper after Mr Carrott if I was a boy - well we are Brummies! Lily for a girl as I'm v blond - would have quite liked that actually.

EachPeachPearMum · 22/04/2009 22:56

I was going to be 'Victoria' - its a darn sight better than the name I do have

dinkymum · 22/04/2009 22:55

My mum wanted Julie-Anne or Matthew my dad Greg or Storm, Gail or Arlene im neither of these! thanks apparently to my half siblings!

MarchNowFebMum · 22/04/2009 22:07

numal - change you name to Honor!

was going to be Jeff if boy which is weird as I have a very unusual girl's name

Stayingsunnygirl · 22/04/2009 22:05

Rhauri, if I'd been a boy.

percy2006 · 22/04/2009 21:41

Born late 70's Wesley if a boy or Louise which is my middle name now. bit boring which is why I have 2 dd with unusual names!!

tigerdriver · 22/04/2009 21:33

lol Eric. alright if you are a Viking.

girlandboy · 22/04/2009 21:32

Eric apparently.

Thank goodness I was a girl.

MadamAnt · 22/04/2009 21:31

I was nearly Angel!! Or Laura, which with my surname would have sounded like Lorelei. Ended up with a v old fashioned name. Actually I like my name and the also-rans.

BananaFruitBat · 22/04/2009 21:31

I was very nearly Tabitha Tamsin.

Yup. Daddy refused. I love him.

feedthegoat · 22/04/2009 21:27

My dad wanted to call me Tracey or Sharon but my mum put her foot down! If I was a boy I was going to be Mark.

tigerdriver · 22/04/2009 21:26

Daphne. Don't know what I would have been if I was a boy. Probably something like Paul or Colin given my age.
