i am only thirteen wks.....i have forever to go.....Pearl is v cute....my DM especially likes tht one but DH vetoed [he does a lot of that...]i am not sure if MN is a blessing or a curse to be honest because i am soooo much more preoccupied with names now than i was with my other two and this topic just fuels the fire ha ha. Honey is certainly a contender tho....the only other names he likes are alice, daisy and lily and i feel like they are lovely but not the 'one'...

Honey Jane is gorgeous.

OAPmum · 22/04/2009 18:42

Lily Rose

flooziesusie · 22/04/2009 14:58

I'm always surprised mnetters bring up the 'well, it wouldn't be appropriate if he/she would be a lawyer/Politian/doctor'!! HOW DULL. SNORE! Seriously!!

OP you have it right, name your baby with love. That's all you can do - as he or she in this instance grows up, she will be given merit on her ABILITIES. Not her name.

We're not talking about calling it Murder, Chewit, Bludgeon or Scab are we???

Honey is a very lovely name, as is Rose IMO.

SouthernMeerkat · 22/04/2009 14:22

I'm called Honey - by my husband as a term of endearment.

I'm not really sure I would like it as a 'proper' name, but I guess as long as you don't go the whole celebrity hog and call her Honey Rainbow Petal Blossom Apple Trixabelle, it's possibly ok

CuppaTeaJanice · 22/04/2009 14:02

Ok, someone has to say it...

Honey Roast Ham

You could make friends with Nicole Kidman and her 'Sunday Roast' though!!

spenthen · 22/04/2009 13:37

I knew a (grown-up) Honey. Everyone always said "What a lovely name" when they met her, and then just got on happily with their lives.

No big deal at all.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 22/04/2009 13:33

I really like Honey its a pretty name, i wouldn't mind being called it as an adult.

Honey Ruth

Honey Sophia

Honey Lucia

Honey Catherine

Honey Eve

i just think that people grow into the name they are given and that her character is going to play a far bigger part in how she is perceived by others and that is how she will be judged....all we can do is name them with love.....Honey excites me far more than matilda or isabella...but i have more reservations about it than i do about some more classic names...if it was up to my mother for example this baby would be elizabeth alice...MN has certainly made me less judgemental of other peoples choices as it is not nice feel judged....i will be quite relieved in a way when i don't feel quite so obsessed with baby names IYKWIM...

No no no. there's a brand of herbal cigarettes called Honey Rose. They are vile.

noddyholder · 22/04/2009 12:26

I think Honey as an adult is quite groovy and would have absolutely no bearing on how I would percieve someone as it wouldn't for a lot of people.Mn is v stiff when it comes to names.

SarahL2 · 22/04/2009 12:25

Leannabanana remember that Mumsnetters exist in real life too.

All that changes in RL is that no-one would tell you that they don't like the name - cause you probably wouldn't have asked.

We'd still be thinking it though....

MrsMerryHenry · 22/04/2009 12:17

Rose is lovely. Honey is naff.

belgo · 22/04/2009 12:16

what about Hazel/Heather/Holly if he likes pretty names beginning with H?

SarahL2 · 22/04/2009 12:14

Definitely wouldn't want to be called Honey as an adult.

How are you ever going to be taken seriously with a name like Honey?

And the potential for twee/undermining nicknames and mickey taking are almost endless!

CalaLilly · 22/04/2009 12:13

Oh sorry Belgo- that was an oversight on my part!

RE: Honey Rose- I think it's pretty, sweet and modern as it's akin with names liked by celebrities. However, I must agree that Honey is not a name I'd like as a grown up person in the working world as it carried associations with names like Cherry and Bambi

belgo · 22/04/2009 12:08

Calalilly- you're forgetting May/Mae
