imo, you need a really down to earth, even slightly masculine, middle name to balance Honey. Not floral, not too american sounding, becuase of the Gone With the Wind associations, and not too romantic.

Honey Frances, Honey Emma, Honey Alice, Honey Sarah...

Nighbynight · 25/04/2009 17:32

Agree, Honey is OK with other names, just not with Rose.

how about Honey Beatrice? (if no-one else has suggested it lol)

Dd's best friend is called Honey. She is a fab and groovy little thing. Her family are super-posh, and I know she will carry her name through to adulthood with style and aplomb.

CoteDAzur · 25/04/2009 17:16

Noooooooo.

3boys4girls · 25/04/2009 17:07

I really like Honey but not Honey Rose, its too much together, sounds like a toiletry brand or something and theres way too many kids with Rose as a middle name.

IMO Honey doesnt sound like a NN theres some names that definitely do sound like they should have a full formal name behind them such as Katy -my sister is a katy, but not a Katherine and she is constantly asked if Katy is "short for something" so when we were thinking of using Roxy, Lexi and Elle for DD4 I was doing hubbys head in telling him we'd have to give her a formal proper name (Roxanne/Alexa/Elizabeth) but Honey doesnt have that problem and I dont actually see how its a NN for Honor other than the first 3 letters being the same

ps we didnt use Roxy/Lexi or Elle - I decided they were way too popular and the first too were a little sexy (foxy roxy, sexy lexi) so we went with hubbys choice of Lauren....I know, I know theres bloody millions of them, I've never noticed just how many Laurens there are!!

Yes, I would drop the Rose too.

shootfromthehip · 25/04/2009 09:39

I like Honey... on my toast, no seriously I think it is very cute. What about Honey Violet or Honey Iris? Keeps the floral theme but not as cliched as Rose?

KnickKnack · 25/04/2009 09:34

Isnt HoneyRose a brand of herbal cigarettes?

I quite like either name on its own...but not together.

Leannabanana · 25/04/2009 09:31

i don't think of honey as sexualised name at all so i don't know where that comes from?? should look at your reading/viewing habits there margot ha....Honor is nice tho - i like it but Honey pips it for me.

i knew an older lady named Honey who'd had tons of plastic surgery. i didn't think it was her real name when i heard it at first. it sounds like a nn, but it's not shockingly unconventional.

Horton · 24/04/2009 20:07

Honey is lovely. I went to school with a terribly posh Honey if that helps you get past the Eastendery comments at all!

MsMargotBeauregarde · 24/04/2009 19:52

I knew a girl whose sur name was Love, and she used to hate when people she couldn't bear called her "Love" as happened a lot in school/when younger.

Wdyt of Honor Jane then with Honey as a nn??

LaundryFairy · 24/04/2009 19:47

All I can think of is her future husband walking in and saying 'Hi Honey, I'm home!'

Honor Jane would be really lovely. (and really mumsnetty ) Jane is no longer predictable as a mn. Its simplicity is appealing now because if it's chosen now, it's chosen because parents really like it, not because it was the first thing that popped into their head.

MsMargotBeauregarde · 24/04/2009 19:44

No. Too sticky. Great name for a cough medicine. I agree with the poster who said there are other middle names besides Rose.

What about Honor instead of Honey. Honor with NN Honey (if you must I really don't like it much). It's either cutesy or sexualised. I know some people don't seem to mind giving their child a name which is sexualised, but seems an odd thing to do imo.

percy2006 · 24/04/2009 19:41

Thanks JemL it suits her and good to know others like it.

JemL · 24/04/2009 14:48

Percy - I LOVE the name Pearl - what a great choice!

Leannabanana · 24/04/2009 11:46

you are right Honey Rose cannot happen due to the herbal cig association.

any suggestions for nice middle names?

How about Marmite Rose? Less sickly than Honey.

saintmaybe · 24/04/2009 11:11

Honey rose was a herbal tobacco people used for spliffs when they didn't want nicotine when I was young, don't know if it's still about. V nasty and smelly.

I do know two little girls called Honey, though.

Shoshe · 24/04/2009 07:54

That was suppose to be 25 years time (2 dosnt always work)

Shoshe · 24/04/2009 07:53

What everyone seems tho forget, that names we say will not suit a prime minister/judge/posh job ^WILL* because in 5 years time these names will be the norm, and names that we now call 'normal' will be deemed 'silly' by our daughters.

And BTW I love Honey
