I want the poshest name I can get away with . OK don't all murder me at once for having asked. I'd be so embarrassed saying that out loud in real life.

I'm called one of these 3 names Sharon/Dawn/Tracey (don't want to narrow down my identity too much). I've always hated revealing my name.

Your thoughts please?

some "posh"names have been down classed by the type of people using them, that makes me sound like a terrible snob, which i'm not.
I like solid names

Thomas
Matthew
Jacob

ultra of the moment names may not be appreciated as your child grows up.

LizzyIzzyLou · 18/04/2009 10:36

Is Jacob posh? We are considering this but not if its deemed 'posh'

MrsMattie · 18/04/2009 10:35

Eugenie does sound posh, doesn't it?

I wouldn't say Harry was posh at all. Henry, yes, but Harry, no.

Girls:

Celia/Cecilia
Aurelia
Arabella
Celeste
Camilla/Camille
Seraphine
Cordelia
Georgiana
Penelope (love this!)
Henrietta (I know a little Henny)

I always think French names sound classy, but I'm a bit of a Francophile.

I also think simple, classic names like Maria or Anna sound classiest, to be honest.

Boys - haven't a clue! I can't stand posh boy's names. Apart from Sebastian? Is that posh? I quite like that.

PuppyMonkey · 18/04/2009 10:10

I always think Allegra is very posh for a girl.
And Sebastian for a boy.

Pineapples · 18/04/2009 10:07

Girls:

Victoria

Elizabeth

Boys:

Charles
