I want the poshest name I can get away with . OK don't all murder me at once for having asked. I'd be so embarrassed saying that out loud in real life.

I'm called one of these 3 names Sharon/Dawn/Tracey (don't want to narrow down my identity too much). I've always hated revealing my name.

Your thoughts please?

I smile as I have friends called Debby and Mark while their dc are Ryo and Savannah.
I think if you've been given a boring name there is the temptation to overcompensate with your own children.
FWIW:
Boys
Lucian
Edgar
Fabian

Girls:
Flora
Viola
Artemis

Thanks

frazzledoldbag · 21/04/2009 17:41

and also Felix Arthur Ashworth is great. (Felix is on my shortlist too!)

stroppyknickers · 21/04/2009 17:41

Blokes are rubbish. I kept hoping up to the last minute he would relent. Will threaten him with another child...

frazzledoldbag · 21/04/2009 17:40

ooh stroppy I love Digby too. DH says absolutely not! [bore]

stroppyknickers · 21/04/2009 17:36

Every time I mention Monty the little girl next door says 'Do you know, in my book about dogs there is a puppy called Monty?' while her parents generally cough and try to stop her.

suwoo · 21/04/2009 17:32

Yes well DH has just about got over the cat reference now thankfully, undoubtedly we will get lots of cat comments in RL though . Yes Woo... is surname.

stroppyknickers · 21/04/2009 17:28

I love Felix but dh wasn't keen because of the stupid cat advert and Digby lost out to the biggest dog in the world? Ashworth is cool - presuming W is the start of yr surname and not some weird third name?

suwoo · 21/04/2009 16:49

Ooh I love Montgomery Miles too, you wouldn't think they would go but they really do. We are thinking Felix Arthur Ashworth W.. for this one. Loving the alliteration going on.

stroppyknickers · 21/04/2009 16:07

Thank you Suwoo; Yep, he is Montgomery Miles (not together obv, just two names I really liked and had to choose first and second)Love DH's head exploding - after vetoing Digby, dh felt Monty safe option!

suwoo · 21/04/2009 09:13

I love Monty stroppyknickers, is he a Montgomery? I love that too but DH's head nearly exploded when I suggested it .

frazzledoldbag · 20/04/2009 21:41

Hercules - I know one who is so posh he has 2 nannies all to himself!

letswiggle · 20/04/2009 21:38

Girl: Charlotte, Ondine
Boy: Valentine

SkaterGrrrrl · 20/04/2009 21:29

Posh boys called Oliver are always Olly.

Have we had Tarquin yet?

I love some of the girls' names but would need to go with quite a plain one as our surname needs spelling already.

stroppyknickers · 20/04/2009 21:21

yay! I have a Monty and no-one has been mean about it! We think he's posh...

tattifer · 20/04/2009 21:17

I have a friend whose daughter is called Adelaide - after one of Queen Victoria's relatives. Also apparently the name of the lady who founded the Women's Institute!

yes i think paul sounds quite debonair without being pretentious.
i was thinking the op wanted names that didn't sound stereotypically posh, like hugh and Arabella, and i think paul is rather pleasant and understated and quite unused these days.
i can't imagine anyone downright common choosing it
