Had already decided on Rafferty, now the middle name:

Blanchard

How many syllables in your surname? I always think it's nice to balance out a Rafferty is quite long, did you go off Rafferty Bob then?

Are you keen on a B name?

I have a suggestion, bit it's not traditional, so not sure if it fits

Rafferty Moss...

isn't that what you do to vegetables??

i DO like rafferty tho hobgoblin x

FairySparkles · 15/04/2009 20:28

yeah, joining the 'don't like camp' I'm afraid - I also think of Blanche from Corrers, and I don't even watch it!!

Definatley more warrior like names out there that 'do what they say on the tin' a bit more - Rafferty is very flouncey, and followed by Blanchard - he's gonna get the shit kicked out of him at school I'm afraid!!

If you want unusual I'd definately stick to first or middle, then have a normal one for the other eg: Max Rafferty, or Rafferty Alexander - only my opinion tho - if you like it then go for it!!!

SebandElliottsmum · 15/04/2009 20:15

ive got rafferty on my short list, im trying to steer away from the jude connection but its also sarah beenys sons name..
i think of blanche from corrie sorry. good luck choosinf im having a nightmare trying to decide ive got 3 weeks left..

messymissy · 15/04/2009 13:52

Blanchard? - no....

Rafferty will be enough for him to say and spell...give him a break!!

my nephew has an odd middle name and HATES it, is supremely embarrassed by it.

nappyaddict · 15/04/2009 13:49

No it sounds completely made up.

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 15/04/2009 00:14

dp agrees and says poor kid. he will never be taken seriously

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 15/04/2009 00:04

Rafferty is not to my taste, but it's not a bad name by any stretch. I agree with the others, a more traditional middle name would be better. Perhaps you could have 2 middle names Rafferty James (or something similar) Blanchard H....

I think you should defo go with Rafferty though! :-)

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 14/04/2009 23:39

rafferty is a bit..... primrose hill. one of jude law's dss is called this..... you may think that is a positive thing!

Stretch · 14/04/2009 23:33

LOVE Rafferty!!!

Andrew?
James?
Brodie?
Alexander?

hobbgoblin · 14/04/2009 23:32

Right, you've all done a pretty good job of steering me away from Blanchard!

Just as well I asked.

So cannot think of second name, and before you ask, yes I must have one for this boy!

Raffertys good - I personally think Blanchard spoils it though...

SNOWBall4girlz · 14/04/2009 19:09

morningpaper · 14/04/2009 19:05

Rafferty is a lovely horse BTW

only OCCASIONALLY tries to crush me to death

FrannyandZooey · 14/04/2009 19:02

not keen on blanchard in combo with rafferty
is it the meaning you like? or what?

morningpaper · 14/04/2009 19:00

I regularly feed a horse called Rafferty

He likes carrots

lotspot · 14/04/2009 17:52

Rafferty is the surname of a friend of mine, so at first i could only see it as a surname, but actually i quite like it for a little boy! it's grown on me.

Blanchard is Orlando Bloom's middle name (Heat magazine informed me of this just 5 minutes ago - I'm not a stalker!! honest )

again makes me think of blanche from coronation street - i dont een watch it and that is my first thought?!?! and also the blanched almonds conotation
Doesnt make me think strong/survivor

I like the combonation Rafferty James, also just thought Rafferty Nolan has count a nice sound when said together - but no idea of the meanings of either name!

Gorionine · 14/04/2009 17:40

Oh! and what about Victor as a middle name?

JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 14/04/2009 17:35

Have a look here

Gorionine · 14/04/2009 17:32

Hobbgoblin, I remember your other thread, quite some time ago now. I am really so that you are now onto choosing a name!

I really like Rafferty, Blanchard reminds me of a French singer from my teenage years. When I was looking for names for my own Dcs there was a name I really liked but did not choose in the end "Azim" which means "determined" in Arabic but on other name which seems to be Arabic to but surprised me a lot is "Basil" which means "brave". There are a few more names that I think would fit because of their meaning but would probably sound really to middle eastern for you.

JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 14/04/2009 17:31

How about

Rafferty Brogan

Brogan = sturdy & strong (according to a website i'm looking at)
