Ok so how terrible would it be to use Bluebell, really?

Because I love it

It is very very unusual, in fact the only one I know of is Geri Halliwell's daughter (and that's not why I like it)

H thinks it'd be cruel, but I think that as it's a flower name it's not that weird surely?

So what do you think?

Ooh, I was just about come come on and post something really positive in favour of Bluebell and noticed I've already done it in April. That's ok then. As you were.

MrsBadger · 22/07/2009 08:58

depends on your surname

Bluebell Jones, yes possibly

Bluebell Fotherington-Thomas, no, call her Anna

Bluebell Halliwell, give a dog a bone...

abitclueless · 22/07/2009 08:44

It's lovely, just a shame about the Geri connection - I couldn't do it

MamaLazarou · 22/07/2009 07:21

I love Bluebell, it's a beautiful name. The only thing that would stop me using it is that awful Halliwell woman.

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 21/07/2009 23:40

so where are we on the whole Bluebell thing these days? I'm currently considering Bluebell for dd3 due in September and have to say I obviously live on another planet as I hadn't realised that Geri had called her babe Bluebell . I just think it is such a pretty name.

seeker · 09/04/2009 14:30

I was at university with Honeysuckle Weeke's parents - and was actually in a tutorial group with her mother. Her imminent arrival was the talk of the campus. And I thought her name was absolutely beautiful then - and her second name as well. God, I'm old - the past really is another country!

Never mind. Belgo - you are doing stirling work for the cause - I commend you!

DuffyFluckling · 09/04/2009 11:49

I think it's lovely.

I gave my dd an unusual flower name about 2 weeks before Bluebell Halliwell was born. Must admit that at the time I was relieved that we'd not chosen the same flower. Now though, I would probably consider it for a second dd.

Most people I know haven't heard of GH, and definitely wouldn't know or care what her daughter was called.

pranma · 09/04/2009 11:45

I love the actress Honeysuckle Weekes but wonder if thats a real name too.Not sure about Bluebell but if you love it use it-she can call herself Belle when she is older.

Madmentalbint · 09/04/2009 07:46

I love the name Bluebell. I think it's so pretty!

I'm not sure I could use it as a first name though. I would definitely use it as a middle name.

belgo · 09/04/2009 07:37

I'm probably quoting Seeker here, but if you have to be brave to use a name, then let's hope your child will be even braver because it's the child who is saddled with the name for life.

Honey and Bluebell are very pretty names but clearly come under the category of 'are-you -brave-enough-to-use' names.

slowreadingprogress · 08/04/2009 20:29

I think Bluebell is one of the most gorgeous names.

Go for it

It's so pretty

Who cares about GH? She's almost not famous now, give it another 5 years and she will be pretty much forgotten!

HortonHatchesTheChocolateEgg · 08/04/2009 20:01

I think Geri would kill it for me as a first name, but it is pretty. I'd definitely use it as a middle name. Esme Bluebell is gorgeous, btw. And I love Clover. Clove would be a great NN.

paolosgirl · 08/04/2009 19:12

Too much of a GH reminder.

When you're landing these kind of names on your children, please stop and think that they may be very quiet, rather shy children. Saddling a retiring teenager with the name Bluebell and sticking her in your average UK comprehensive is social suicide, and akin to sticking a sign on her back saying "kick me".

If you like these kind of names, at least be kind and use it as a middle name

Poppity · 08/04/2009 19:08

Oh, the more I read this the more I wish I'd used it anyway and to hell with GH!
So pretty.
Love Honey too...

I think Honey is gorgeous as well People, be brave!!!

LittleMissBliss · 08/04/2009 16:04

Do you like the name Honey?
I think it's beautiful but DH would never allow it.

LittleMissBliss · 08/04/2009 16:02

I like it, but do think of GH too.

I think her daughters name is so awful because she is called Bluebell Madonna.

The Madonna bit is just insane!

I do agree its not the most adult name but she could be Belle as an adult?

CrushWithEyeliner · 08/04/2009 15:51

I love this name but again the Geri link just killed it for me.
Beautiful name imo.....

Spidermama · 08/04/2009 15:48

God LOVE subtlemouse for saying 'who is Geri Halliwell'.

You've just won my undying respect.

PuppyMonkey · 08/04/2009 15:39

I would like to be called Bluebell. It's much nicer than my name.

YesSirICanBoogie · 08/04/2009 12:51

I think it's pretty but would depend on the surname. Bluebell Halliwell sounds silly to me. Love Poppy but DH wouldn't agree for DD. I also like (although slightly embarrassed to admit to it) Rosebud. I'm not brave enough, however!

Bettymum · 08/04/2009 12:28

Not me.
I was nearly Poppy but my old surname began with P and it would have sounded silly. I love Poppy.

belgo · 08/04/2009 12:11

I didn't say I hate it. I said I would hate to be called it.

How many of us would like to be called Bluebell?

beanieb · 08/04/2009 11:34

just because you hate it belgo, doesn't mean everyone would.

That's the first time I've heard 'you can't possibly use the name because I, a random internet person, would hate it'
