I need help! my baby girl is 4 weeks old and we still can't decide on her name. in a real dilemma between Martha and Josie. Any thoughts on either name? which shall we go for?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Not necessarily but think about a lawyer or a teacher etc just think it is nice to have the option!

I would go with Josie then. Why not extend it to Josephine and then it can be a pet name for every day.

muminmuddle · 07/04/2009 11:36

do you think Josie is 'too cute' for an adult??

I like Martha.
Why not just call her Martha Josie and see what she and you grow into?

Metatron · 07/04/2009 11:36

i love Joseline. slightly unusual and can be cuted up for kids but a strong adult name.

MrsHappy · 07/04/2009 11:35

I think Josie is pretty cool.
And the longer versions - Josephine and Joseline - are both good names that would suit an adult.

Martha's not bad but as others have said it is about to become very popular.

Amapoleon · 07/04/2009 11:35

I like both but I prefer Martha.

muminmuddle · 07/04/2009 11:35

thanks for that... surname = 1 syllable (begins with n)

Both are lovely. Do either of you have even the slightest preference? Or do any grandparents have a slight preference. Can you have a family vote?

Nancy66 · 07/04/2009 11:33

I think they're both lovely.

Martha is becoming very popular. Will be in the top 10 in the next few years I reckon, so depends if that bothers you. Also there's no obvious shortening or nickname.

Josie has the edge for me.

what letter and how many syllables is your surname?
