I have a very short list of girls names that I like and DH has said no to all......can you suggest anything along the same lines as these so I can try them on him ( that's if I like them of course!)

Cersie
Dulcie
Drew
Darby
Kizzie
Kitty
Kirby

he did initially say he liked Kizzie but has back tracked now.

Eden? Although next to Devon it might make people think of the Eden Project.

I don't think your naming style and your DH's are miles apart, so I think you can find common ground somewhere. If you liked Cersie and Kirby while he liked Charlotte and Araminta you'd probably have more of a struggle on your hands...

devonsmummy · 07/04/2009 13:46

Just remembered 2 other names that Dh suggested
Faryl and Farrah so he may like Faren (not me though!)

randomname · 07/04/2009 13:44

I know a Devon and a Paige.
Faren, Dixie, Lois, Lana

PortAndLemon · 07/04/2009 13:39

It would save on nametags...

devonsmummy · 07/04/2009 13:31

Lexie - on list when expecting DS - gone off it now
Roxie - another of my mum's dogs!

Sazisi - I like Piper and Tilly (DH not keen on Tilly)

VTTVN - 'just call the child Devon????'
and have a DS and a DD with the same name?!

OP posts:
Sazisi · 07/04/2009 13:13

Harrumph, you didn't acknowledge anything on my list

Three more for you:

Piper
Zara
Tilly or Tilda

VinegarTitsTheVirginNun · 07/04/2009 13:09

I dont like you choice in names either, but each to their own

We had a cat called Tizzy when i was little

Why cant you have Blaize as a girls name too?

Or just call the child Devon, then you wont have to namechange

babyphat · 07/04/2009 13:02

try this

PurpleKate · 07/04/2009 12:57

One of my great-aunts was named Tamar (pronounced taymar) Elizabeth and quite a character, there are lots of family stories about her. She was always referred to as Tamar-Elizabeth - as if Tamar wasn't unusual enough! I abolutely love this combination (perhaps its the familiarity) and would love to have named my daughter the same, DH wasn't keen though.

PortAndLemon · 07/04/2009 12:52

Tamar is nice.

Xylia? Zillah? Kyla? Mira? Anais? Mimi?

And I agree -- make your DH ome up with a list of ten names he really likes (which will at least give you both a better idea of his style and of where to find a compromise).

Or, rather than each of you coming up with separate favourite names lists, you could each go separately through a baby names book and make a list of any names that you feel you could live with for your DD (trying not to be too restrictive at this stage). Then the list of names you have in common is the one you then need to start narrowing down to arrive at a name you both like.

notagrannyyet · 07/04/2009 11:55

If your son is Devon how about Taymar. It is the name of a river in Devon/Cornwall I believe, but I have heard of girls with this as a name. I like it and it is fairly unusuall.
