Like jacob, Finn and Oliver - not sure on Riley or Ellis and don't really like Ashton -agree its too american.

Littlepurpleprincess · 13/04/2009 13:03

not Finn! I work in childcare and there are hundreds

mostly short for Finnley.

MadameCastafiore · 13/04/2009 13:02

Oliver - common (in the many of them sense)
Riley - bit chavvy
Ashton - very chavvy
Jacob - as Oliver
Ellis - Nice
Finn - the best of your list

nappyaddict · 13/04/2009 13:00

I like Ashton and Finn. The others are a bit overused for me.

WowOoo · 02/04/2009 08:56

Like Jacob, Finn, Oliver in that order.

ohdearwhatamess · 02/04/2009 08:55

Like Oliver, Jacob, Finn

Don't like the others

LetThemEatCake · 02/04/2009 08:38

Oliver - love it, don't care how common - it's a classic
Riley - nice but I know a few of them (not in this country though, oddly)
Ashton - nice. Love Ash as an abbrev.
Jacob - quite like
Ellis - don't like, sounds wet
Finn - considered for dc 1 but turned out to be a girl. Like it, it's a surfer's name! but a bit overused round my neck of the woods

random · 02/04/2009 07:56

Like Finn and Riley ..none of the others

broguemum · 02/04/2009 07:51

Oliver - lovely
Riley - lovely and individual without being bonkers
Ashton - sorry, makes me think of an American blonde with 6ft legs and a boob job. No idea why
Jacob - don't do biblical names but this is nice.
Ellis - sorry, but this one makes me think of an American brunnette, medium height with a long shiny bob but no boob job. No idea why. Perhaps I need therapy.
Finn - lovely

shootfromthehip · 02/04/2009 07:50

Oliver- know lots of them so it's kind of put me off
Riley- Yuck
Ashton- Very American- didn't know any personally until recently and now know 2 week old. Very 'ish' about it.
Jacob- Lovely
Ellis- know a female Ellis so associate it with a girl
Finn- probably my fav.

Lizzylou · 01/04/2009 11:40

Like Oliver, Jacob and Finn, a lot

The others, not so much

ForeverOptimistic · 01/04/2009 11:38

I like Oliver and Finn but not keen on the others.

pandavark · 01/04/2009 11:37

Oliver: very popular in the uk. i like the simple meaning.
Riley: this must be an american translation of the gaelic surname. i think its ok
Ashton: i don't like this but it is an old english name so people who are saying its american must be associating it with that fella ashton kutcher.
Jacob: i think this is a really nice name. even though its very common now, i dont think you can go wrong with it because its so nice.
Ellis: quite nice. first thing i thought of was Ellis Bell, the name Emily Bronte used when she was pretending to be a male writer.
Finn: this is a strong irish name. i think this would be nice but if you were part irish, otherwise its like a non arab calling their kid muhammad or something

LouMacca · 31/03/2009 23:34

Like Oliver, Jacob and Finn (in that order)

Am quite surprised that Riley, Ashton and Ellis are on the same list. They are so different from the other 3 names. I don't like them at all.

Nancy66 · 31/03/2009 22:49

Like Oliver, Jacob and Finn.
Don't mind Ellis but not keen on the other two

changer22 · 31/03/2009 22:43
