Go for it. But guess I'm biased.

charliegal · 02/04/2009 17:38

pah! It's lovely.

Ignore about the lawyer thing. I met a Buttercup with a serious job last year, you know, I mean you just adjust your tired old thinking, surely?

I would shorten it to Tally - if anything. That passes the barister test for me.

PistachioLemon · 02/04/2009 09:22

I'm not a fan to be honest, but if you like it you should ignore what all the nay-sayers have said and go for it.

LittleMissBliss · 02/04/2009 09:08

I like it!

kellise · 02/04/2009 09:05

I love it & think it goes nicely with Oliver.

ickletickle · 02/04/2009 08:59

lawyer... have i missed something? i would really rather hope my daughter did something slightly more exciting with her life.. like a rock star... or deep sea diver...

i change my mind. tallulah is just fine!

pingviner · 02/04/2009 00:21

There was a little girl ´K` in NZ who sued her parents to change her name recently- they had called her "Tallulah does the Hula from Hawaii"

Im sure if you stick to Tallulah it will be OK

ScottishThistle · 02/04/2009 00:20

I like Tallulah.

Also what is it with the "barrister/lawyer" test???
Should all children be called Elizabeth, Catherine and Victoria???

I also love Tabitha

kitkatqueen · 02/04/2009 00:14

just wanted to say that i'm not trying to be hurtful, but I am repeating the words of an adult Tallulah speaking about her own name.

LetThemEatCake · 01/04/2009 23:49

Tallulah is a lovely name.

and these people who witter on about job application forms etc are forgetting that 'unusual' names, if you want to call them that (ie not Emily, Jack, Joshua, Grace blah blah blah) are becoming the norm .. so by the time this generation are applying for said jobs their names will barely rate any notice.

permagullible · 01/04/2009 23:48

My friend's dd Tallulah is always called Lali (pron. Lally) - don't know if that's a common abbreivation (poss not) but that would then be Olly & Lali.

lou33 · 01/04/2009 23:45

i just find it odd that so much is based on a name

well it isnt its based on personal stereotypes

i think some of the posters have been a bit ott in their opinions, but as i said, their view does not fit my daughter so they are wrong

Concordia · 01/04/2009 23:38

as i said Lou, I think people are being a tad harsh here. Drink your wine and don't worry about it - i'm sure your DD loves her name!

lou33 · 01/04/2009 23:36

ffs

lou33 · 01/04/2009 23:35

never heard anyone using tallulah as an insult

this is probably not a good thread for me to keep posting on now i have had wine

kitkatqueen · 01/04/2009 23:34

It also fails the gp/bank manageress test - and doesn't fail the lap dancer test - sorry if i offend, but you did ask...

Concordia, I too have vague memories of older aunts using this name as a kind of insult.
When I was a child they would refet to some people as "Tallulah" in a negative, kind of dismissive way.
Think that this has stuck with me and hence the negative connotations.

Concordia · 01/04/2009 23:24

when our baby girl didn't have a name and i was on the ward for ages, one of the midwives started calling her tallulah (think she was taking the p)
I don't see what is wrong with the name though. Think people are being a bit harsh.
