Rofl at StealthPolarBear.

Destinee, Olyviya, Elle (for Ellie), Kelli, Kayte are all former pupils.

tattifer · 27/03/2009 19:21

Kalum - I want to pronounce it Kay-lum but apparently the little mite is called Callum (?)

Flibbertyjibbet · 27/03/2009 19:19

Snigger

at Fann-joe

EdwardBear · 27/03/2009 19:18

I went to school with a Hiedi, she always had to say 'Its Hiedi with an ie' lol

Joycey29 · 27/03/2009 19:18

I have taught siblings Krisdol (Crystal) and Maffew (Matthew). I felt sorry for both!

StealthPolarBear · 27/03/2009 19:17

Fann-joe

georgimama · 27/03/2009 19:13

Aimee (with an accent on the first e - can't do it here) is French for "loved" so yes, it is a "proper" spelling.

FAQinglovely · 27/03/2009 19:12

Aimee is a "proper" variation isn't it? I went to school with a Scottish Aimee years ago.

Tinker · 27/03/2009 19:11

Porsher

smartiejake · 27/03/2009 19:10

Aimee and Tayla

InSearchOfLostKeys · 27/03/2009 19:08

Chantal (my name) gets spelt 'Chantelle' a lot, but the worst ever was 'Shuntelle', I mean ffs...

elvislives · 27/03/2009 19:01

Mrswoolf Tabatha is a real name. Not the same name as Tabitha.

I came across a Jennaveeve, and there is a MNetter who keeps putting Hiedi on name threads (it's Heidi FFS!)

I wish people would check how to spell a name before using it.

ForeverOptimistic · 27/03/2009 18:57

No I think R-Marni is meant to be Armani after the designer. Poor child.

purpleduck · 27/03/2009 18:56

is R-marni meant to be Harmony?

ForeverOptimistic · 27/03/2009 18:46

I worked with a spanish lady called Jorja and I saw two Jorja's (both spanish) on a list recently so I am pretty sure it is not made up!

FAQinglovely · 27/03/2009 18:43

georgimama - don't forget that many "English" names don't "work" in other lanagues, so many many names have been aletered.

"Tomas" - bona fide spelling of Thomas in Spain (I think?) too.

Flibbertyjibbet · 27/03/2009 18:42

Great timing for this thread I was just about to start one to say that today I've seen a car number plate of:

S 50WFY

(with the gap as I've put it).

So, is this just the most fantastically chav-tastic attempt at a personalised number plate for a Sophie, or did her mother think she was giving her an exotic name of Sowfy?

(I could only see the SOW part of it )

georgimama · 27/03/2009 18:41

It's not! It can't be!! It might be a bona fide made up spelling, but surely the girl's name Georgia is either a form of the male name George, or it's a direct correlation to the American state (which again, was named after a George - King George).

Jorja just sounds, mad.

FAQinglovely · 27/03/2009 18:40

I'm also sure that Tobee could be a European spelling of the "English" Toby....

chequersmate · 27/03/2009 18:38

Am hugely relieved to hear that jorja is a bona fide spelling!

georgimama · 27/03/2009 18:35

We've had that too.

And "U" Tree Cottage. I kid you not.

KleineMaus · 27/03/2009 18:35

Sorry, not spelling, just terrible names...

FAQinglovely · 27/03/2009 18:35

georgimama - I suppose "Ewe" is margianlly better than "You" tree cottage

KleineMaus · 27/03/2009 18:34

Twins in Glasgow called Gucci and Versace McClutchie. An urban myth surely.

georgimama · 27/03/2009 18:32

Not a person's name but our house. Yew Tree Cottage.

The number of letters we've had addressed to Ewe Tree Cottage would make you weep.
