I need to cheer myself up and focus on the positives after my 20 week scan yesterday (baby showed soft marker for Trisonomy 18)

We aren't thinking about that any more and are focusing on buying clothes and choosing names

I like
Felix
Milo
Cassius (not possible with surname)

I also like Jasper, Caspar, Silas, Rafferty and Asa but wouldn't actually choose them I don't think.

DH likes Jude and Finn.

Please feel free to make loads of suggestions .

DD is Madeleine and DS is Noah.

Hi Dothis, I have another thread running here here. It was a CPC same as you.

DH has just said Arthur could be a grower and suggested Fred.

Hi Suwoo. My DS3 had a trisonomy 18 soft marker too. A CPC. He is perfect, though. What marker did they get on the scan?

Like your names. Esp Casper and Fin.

I expect that would get a NO!!!!!!!!!!!! via email like all the others I have emailed DH this morning.

DD2 has an Arturo in her nursery group, worth a shot?

suwoo · 24/03/2009 12:21

Yep DH doesn't like Arthur.

woodenspoon2 · 24/03/2009 12:18

I have a Jude. It's a name which has grown on me since we used it. Has dignity, is I think sufficiently masculine, not millions and millions of them, doesn't feel self-onsciously trendy. Is a good name.

suwoo · 24/03/2009 12:13

Ooh Arthur. No doubt DH will hate it . Tis a family name too.

OP posts:
Bella73 · 24/03/2009 12:06

Ooh glad it was useful Suwoo! I was trying to think of a way of saying "no more biblical names please"!

I love nymbler. Just need to have another child so I can legitimately play with it some more

Let us know if you find anything you and DH both like!

suwoo · 24/03/2009 12:05

Ooh the names that come up from Madeleine and Felix are interesting..........poncestastic .

Thanks so much for that idea Bella, will be playing on there a while.

OP posts:
suwoo · 24/03/2009 12:03

I can't do Victor or Quentin- I just can't seem to get my head round them having a revivial. Tobias was considered poncey by DH .
Bella, that nymbler search was briliant, I might do it with Madeleine and Felix and take Noah out of the equation as it brings up too many biblical names.

Love Finn and Jude .Finlay is my fave (NN Fin)
also Ellis,Elliott,Elijah,Isaac (Zac),Theo,Dion

sonniebonnie · 24/03/2009 11:32

You have good taste , I really like your name suggestions, especially Jasper, Caspar and Felix.

I'm ot keen on Jude as it sounds a little feminine to me (I know a Judith, nn Jude), nor Cassius which has too many 'ss' in it and doesn't roll of the (my) tongue easily...

Have you considered

Victor
Quentin
Tobias (Toby)
Rory

wotulookinat · 24/03/2009 11:06

I just don't like Felix because it's my brother's name and we don't get on

Lizzylou · 24/03/2009 11:04

Joel?

Love Caspar and Jude

Bella73 · 24/03/2009 11:03

X-posted there with lots of posts - see you don't want biblical names so that rules out lots of the Nymbler suggestions, sorry.

I don't know your surname but understand if that rules certain names out.

Would Eli be okay (as not obviously religious in the same way as Elijah is?). I know an Eli and think it's lovely.

Bella73 · 24/03/2009 11:00

No Scottish stuff... okay (my DP is Scottish so that's ruling out a LOT of our favourites!)

Looking back at your list, I like Caspar and Silas a lot. I didn't know Asa was a boy's name, I would have automatically assumed a girl's name but that's my ignorance.

Did a Nymbler search with your top three names and your DH's two names. Here are the top names (I've bolded the ones I like):

Ezra
Japheth
Augustus
Eli
Alexander (Scottish )
Asher
Caleb
Jabez
Zed
Jack
Benjamin
Leif
Napoleon
Aidan
Ignatius

Taking out your DH's choices the list looks like this:

Marcellus, Philo, Ephraim, Jasper, Lucian, Theophilus, Sinclair, Augustus, Ezra, Atticus, Leander, Adolphus, Montgomery, Simeon, Erastus

Typing in your two children's names you get:
Jesse, Mitchell, Caleb, Isaac, Zachary, Ari, Ian, Joah, Noam (why would you want either of those two if you have a Noah?), Jedidiah (go on, I dare you!), Elias (which I do like), Gabriel, Ishmael, Ethan and Benjamin

That enough names for you?

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 24/03/2009 10:58

I knew this was your thread before I even opened it.

I really like Jude.

hedgiemum · 24/03/2009 10:57

I have nephews called Finn and Jude - both such sweet names. Also know a Judah which I think is very cool, and seems to me to go well with Noah. In same vein as Rafferty, how about Ralph (with the Rafe pronunciation), or written as Rafe? Traditional yet unusual and cool.

suwoo · 24/03/2009 10:56

I think Felix goes ok with surname. Nothing is ever going to 'go'. It sounds better than Cassius . Imagine if he has a lisp.

OP posts:
Phoenix · 24/03/2009 10:55

Was going to say Noah but you already have one. If this baby is a boy he will be Noah

What about Lewis? That's my ds' name.

Congrats on your boy

suwoo · 24/03/2009 10:55

DH doesn't like Gabriel or Reuben. I just think an Elijah or any other biblical name will be too much with Noah. We are not remotely religious.

OP posts:
wotulookinat · 24/03/2009 10:54

I wouldn't have thought Rafferty was classed as a chav name, but I have never come across anyone with the name.
Gus is great! A would have Augustus, Gus for short.
I would avoid Felix with your surname.
