Aurora

will this ever lose the disney connotation? I love it but don't want her to think we named her after a disney princess......

Lovely name.

MarchNowFebMum · 22/03/2009 19:47

I like it - did not think princess until you 'said' it

onelittletreasure · 21/03/2009 06:12

Aurora - love it!!!

jkklpu · 18/03/2009 20:53

you can get away with it if your surname works
my ds2 (16mo) is in love with an Aurora at his nursery

Madmentalbint · 18/03/2009 18:32

I do think it's hard to say and it does make me think of nipples....and boats

piscesmoon · 18/03/2009 18:00

You said honest opinions - hate it!

nappyaddict · 18/03/2009 17:56

I love it.

MargotBeauregarde · 18/03/2009 12:45

Horrible. Hard to say. Trendy. A disney Barbie. Just no, no, no.

I actually prefer Dawn!!!!

ipanemagirl · 18/03/2009 11:48

I'm not too keen. I just feel it leaves the child with a lifetime of having to spell her name out patiently for the majority who won't know it.
It's just my opinion but simple names are sometimes easier for the person who has to live with it.

gy300 · 18/03/2009 11:44

What about Aura?

Leannabanana · 17/03/2009 18:19

areola....oh nipples. i wasn't thinkin that way but sure am now....how funny. I'll put it on the backburner....also my son doesn't say R's properly so would only be able to say a-worwa....bugger....

Lovely.

fruitstick · 17/03/2009 17:39

I can't say it either!

belgo · 17/03/2009 17:38

I'm one of those people for whom Aurora is a tongue twister. It's a pretty name apart from that.

Just make sure, if your child has real difficulties with speech, get them really good speech therapy because it's really embarrasing when you have difficulty pronouncing your own name.

LuLuBai · 17/03/2009 17:35

Some people have a real job getting their mouth around anything that isn't Jane or Kate.

Sycamoretree · 17/03/2009 14:47

I like it. Some people have a real job getting their mouth around it - but I wouldn't let that put me off.

MrsMattie · 17/03/2009 14:41

Love it. Considered it for my DD.

troutpout · 17/03/2009 14:40

not keen sorry

RachieB · 17/03/2009 14:38

lol nancy!

i am not keen TBH

Nancy66 · 17/03/2009 12:51

I really like it. have to make sure everyone in your family can pronounce their 'Rs' though. "Aworwa" doesn't sound quite so good.

letswiggle · 17/03/2009 12:39

Quite often used here in Italy - and not really associated with Disney. I like it, but was also thinking 'a roarer'.

How about Araminta?

EdwardBear · 17/03/2009 12:37

I like it. Didnt know there was a Disney character called it

wotulookinat · 17/03/2009 12:36

Nope. Makes me think of nipples too.

dizzydixies · 17/03/2009 12:27

I only knew because we watched Sleeping Beauty yesterday

SouthernMeerkat · 17/03/2009 12:23

We are currently working on the Aurora portfolio at work - which is the new name for the Mosaic chain of shops (Karen Millen, Oasis, Coast) etc - so wouldn't work for me!

How about Dawn instead (which is what it means) ?
