Can you help me find a traditional name that no one has used yet????

We are fairly late having our latest DS, and everyone else we know has already had their second, if not third. They have "taken" most of the popular boys names.

I never imagined having more than one son (no idea why) and so have never had more than the one name I was really attached to. So, we've used that for DS1.

I just want a strong traditional name, that has similar impact to first DS, and I want to really like it. As per LittleMissWorryHead's posting, I'm really worried that it will be such a compromise that it will end up being a problem forever...

So the following are off our joint list but sort of the right lines
Dan/iel
Nic/olas
Jo/seph
Ben/
Will/

To give you an idea, a friend has just called their son Felix. I don't think i would have chosen it, but it's a traditional name but not common iyswim......

I'm very worry that at the moment our list has two names on it, and neither of us is super keen on either of them:

Leo
Henry

Am I making any sense at all, is this just too boring for anyone else to bother with??!!

All idea gratefully received......

J

Why are you resurecting a three year old thread? Why not start a new thread about Elijah vs Isaac

Blush oh sh!t & I didn't notice

rockinhippy · 01/03/2012 15:51

My first choice had DD been a boy was Amos - DH hated it, but like yours, he hated everything I came up with both girl & boyHmm - so I agreed to let him choose the name if we had a boy & I chose for a girl - I "felt" she was a girl from day one, so cheated a bit also I had no intention of letting him have his way for a boy anyway, but it saved any discussion

not seen it mentioned here, so seems it fits traditional & unusual

Henry feels like a name for cat or dog. Though I know it's popular now.

I am thinking Elijah Blake but have had last minute swerve to Isaac Blake .. Thoughts?

branflake81 · 18/03/2009 09:51

Peter is my all time favourite boys' name. However we spend a lot of time in France and, for various reasons, it really doesn't work there so have not used it.

jcscot · 18/03/2009 09:43

Richard is very uncommon now (used to be in top names about a hundred years ago is now number 5000, or something like that).

I love Leo not Henry.

Along the lines of
Dan/iel
Nic/olas
Jo/seph
Ben/
Will/

I also like

Saul Guy Gus (Fergus)
Greg(ory) Dominic Richie (Richard)
Rob/Robbie/Robert
Marcus and Julius are two brilliant Roman Classics. Love them both. Marcus a tiny bit more approachable, but love Julius.

A bit quirkier, but I love Victor, Donald and Bruce.

Blimey, well 10/10 for diligence, you're all still here!

I tried asking DH what he DID want and he said "Will" or "Charlie".. or something.

So, I know, maybe I should just be content with one of those, but it doesn't Mean anything to me ifswim, and we already know one of each.

I don't want a name that no one else has, just not in our close circle.....

At least we've started laughing about it(It was getting very serious).... I suggested Ned, then asked what Ned was short for, and DH said "Nedward?".. so Nedward it is
