MrsMattie · 12/03/2009 16:48

...or strangely, Chuck D from Public Enemy also springs to mind! Not so redneck

MrsMattie · 12/03/2009 16:47

redneck

Fimbo · 12/03/2009 16:47

eh up chuck.

Glad you have decided against it.

HecatesTwopenceworth · 12/03/2009 16:12

good idea it's terrible!

nutherone · 12/03/2009 16:11

Hmm, i think the overall result is a resounding no way!! I'm quite surprised but not in any way offended, i actually wouldn't want to give a name that would make most people feel sorry for ds! But me and dh both really like it! I thought it was more common in America, maybe it was in past times.. Ah well, will keep thinking...

Gossip Girl is the first thing that comes to mind.

edam · 12/03/2009 10:21

Don't be daft! Give him a proper name and use Chuck as a nickname if you really must. Although there are far better nicknames for Charles...

MmeLindt · 12/03/2009 06:40

Puke is the first thing that comes to mind.

Sorry.

barbie1 · 12/03/2009 05:49

no sorry.....first thought were ey up chuck too!

nooka · 12/03/2009 04:53

Awful. In fact yuk. As you said you could take it! I don't like it as a nickname (ey up chuck) but as a given name, just really bad.

solowitch · 11/03/2009 23:53

Nooooooooooo!

Absolutely love it. If only dd had been a ds I would have used it

fin42 · 11/03/2009 23:43

I would think Chuck was a nn for Charlie/Charles, why not use the as his real name and then he can choose?

ninedragons · 11/03/2009 23:29

Hard to take seriously.

A friend of mine had to do a stint in one of the American offices of her company, where she worked with a man called Chuck Spears.

LaDiDaDi · 11/03/2009 23:29

Horrid.

Tidey · 11/03/2009 23:28

First thought was 'Upchuck', then thought of the character from Pushing Daisies, but that's short for Charlotte.

sarah76 · 11/03/2009 23:25

There's quite a nasty character on Gossip Girl called Chuck, but more importantly upChucking is the first thing that comes to mind when I hear it.

BTW, I'm American and honestly NEVER knew anyone called Chuck! Very few called Charles, and they used Charlie as a nickname.

lotspot · 11/03/2009 22:56

theres a Chuc in my daughter's class at secondary school, and i remember when she was 11 and got her class photo she had us guessing people's names from their initials - we got to Chuc and the clue she gave us was 'It's like a rubbish throw'

no from me
